Croeso - The news this week
It has been another exciting and enriching week across the school, packed with visits, workshops and creative experiences that have brought learning to life.
Last Friday, Year 4 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Forman Castle, where they explored the rich tradition of storytelling in Wales. The children listened carefully to skilled storytellers before taking part in drama workshops, learning how to retell stories with expression and confidence. They particularly enjoyed acting as different characters from the legend of the Red Dragon, bringing the tale to life through movement and voice. After their workshops, the pupils had a wonderful time exploring the story trail and play park, rounding off a memorable day of learning and fun.
On Monday, the whole school welcomed visitors from BulliesOut. Through engaging activities and discussions, the children learned about the importance of kindness, inclusion, and standing up for one another. The sessions reinforced our school values and reminded everyone how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Year 2 had a brilliant WOW Day on Wednesday. The children loved creating colourful patterned fruit kebabs, carefully arranging different fruits to design repeating patterns. They also had great fun making tie-dye t-shirts, experimenting with colours and techniques to produce vibrant designs. It was a creative and hands-on day that combined art, design and lots of smiles!
On Thursday, Reception had an unforgettable visit to St Fagans National Museum of History. During the morning, they explored the historic Rhyd-Y-Car houses and Maestir School, stepping back in time to see how people used to live and learn. In the afternoon, the children took part in a traditional toys workshop, thinking about how toys have changed over time. They enjoyed trying out older toys and comparing them to the ones they play with today. There was also time to visit some of the farm animals, making the trip both educational and exciting.
Throughout the week, children across the school have also begun working on their Let’s Explore Wales challenges in preparation for St David’s Day after half term. Pupils have started completing a range of writing, computing and art tasks linked to Welsh culture, history and traditions. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm as they celebrate and learn more about Wales.
Another fantastic week of curiosity, creativity, and community learning — da iawn, everyone!

Keeping Active
As we welcome a brand-new year, Team Action for Happiness would like to wish all our children and families a very happy, healthy start to the year ahead.
A new year is a lovely opportunity to pause, reflect and think about how we can look after our wellbeing — moving our bodies, noticing our feelings and being kind to ourselves and others.
Small actions can make a big difference, especially when we do them together. As we look to the year ahead, you might like to think about a small goal you would like to set for yourselves. This video helps you think about simple, positive goals to work towards.
Here is an energising five-minute workout for you to enjoy and get your body moving!
