Message from our Principal
Learning Opportunities in our school are amazing!
Welcome to Week 8. Term 2 continues to be very busy and offers our students many cocurricular activities to engage in as well as their curriculum learning. The commitment and passion of our Mullumbimby High School staff in offering these opportunities is amazing. Week 7 was a very active one, with the usual outdoor education and weekly sport adventures on the coast but also a ride on the rail trail for our inclusive education students and wheelchair sports for the Year 7 Sports Excellence, Year 11 Health and Movement Science and Year 12 PDHPE, as well as the North Coast Cross Country. Thank you to all the staff who provided these fantastic opportunities for our students and to our students who engaged so enthusiastically with learning outside of the classroom.
Reminder: Mobile Phones banned in NSW schools since Term 4, 2023
We have seen a number of students forgetting our phone policy lately and for the remainder of the term, there will be a strong focus within the school on making sure that phones are "Off and Away” in bags and that ear buds and headphones are also off and away as you come in the gate. Mobile phones have been banned in NSW schools since Term 4, 2023. This ban helps students to engage more meaningfully with their learning without the digital distraction of their phone. Remember students, if your phone is out, it will be confiscated and taken to the front office.
Push Up Challenge
Our SRC are promoting and taking part in the Push Up Challenge this month to improve their physical and mental fitness, have fun and raise funds to make a difference to mental health in Australia. They have made a great start already and will be sharing their challenge across the school at assembly this week.
Coming up this week
Our Year 12 English Studies students are heading to Brisbane on their curriculum-based excursion for their “On the Road” Module this Monday and on Tuesday, some of our Aboriginal dancers will be joining other local high schools at the Bangarra Dance workshop. Wednesday, Year 10 will be enjoying their Mystery Night gathering. On Friday, the NDIS desk will be available at Mullumbimby High School. Families, please contact our front office for more information on how to access this.
Have a great week 8! Respect | Responsibility | Learning | Bree Harvey-Bice, RELIEVING PRINCIPAL
