Welcome to Magnolia Room "We shall walk together on this path of life, for all things are part of the universe and are connected with each other to form one whole unity." Dr. Maria Montessori

Dear Magnolia Families, this is our final Scribbles for the 2023-24 school year. I would like to thank you parents for making this year a very special one for the students in my classroom, also for me and all the assistant teachers. You have been invaluable parents of our class, and your time and talents contributed to providing a successful year of learning for each of your children. I take this opportunity especially to congratulate our kindergartener, Marielle Veridiano, and wish her the best as she leaves us and enters the 1st grade. I also wish the best to all the students who are leaving us and going to another school. I especially want to thank the assistant teachers for all their support as this year wouldn't have been the same without them. I want to wind up this year by thanking Dr. Perry for all the support and guidance she has given me and the Magnolia room. I hope you all have a great summer. Those who are returning, see you all in the fall.

Science

Insects - Butterfly

In the early childhood environment, children are acquainted with the world of animals on a practical life and sensorial level, as well as a scientific one. So the animals in the classroom are not strange, but common ones already familiar to the child. The first beginning task for the child is to identify the fundamental needs of the animal. A Montessori classroom void of animals reflects that degree of on participation in the process of life. Also a Montessori classroom with animals cared for by the children represents the vision in the Montessori classroom. The child in harmony with nature and as a helper to the nature. Here the children are observing the life cycle of a butterfly, egg to butterfly.

Nomenclature cards parts of a butterfly.

Here the children are working on a paperwork about the Lifecycle of a butterfly.

Releasing the Butterflies

Last Friday, we gathered together to say goodbye to the butterflies that grew up with us in the classroom.
