ChildFund Bolivia awarded by the Legislative Assembly for its 45 Years of dedicated Service

The Chamber of Senators of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly awarded a Chamber Declaration Tribute to ChildFund Bolivia, recognizing its 45 years of work in favor of children, adolescents, and youth in the country. During the ceremony, Country Director Ximena Loza emphasized that this recognition “is a tribute to the resilience and potential of every child and young person we work with.” ChildFund Bolivia reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting education, health, protection, and youth empowerment programs, together with its local partners, strengthening communities and fostering protective environments for Bolivian children and youth.

ChildFund Bolivia receives Award from the national neighborhood council for its contributions to children and local communities

As part of the neighborhood decoration ceremony for Bolivia’s Bicentennial, ChildFund Bolivia received recognition from the Honorable Chamber of Deputies and the National Confederation of Neighborhood Councils. This important honor reflects the commitment and joint work with communities, families, children, and adolescents in building a fairer and more hopeful future. ChildFund Bolivia expresses its deep gratitude for this gesture, which inspires continued action for the well-being and protection of Bolivian children.

ChildFund Bolivia’s youth advisory council convenes for its inaugural assembly in Cochabamba

Under the motto “Our voice influences, our future is decided,” ChildFund Bolivia’s Youth Advisory Council held its first Assembly in Cochabamba, marking a milestone in youth participation within the organization. During the event, young leaders shared ideas, debated proposals, and defined actions to strengthen their role as agents of change in their communities. This historic meeting reflects ChildFund Bolivia’s commitment to promoting youth leadership and building a future where the voices of children and adolescents are heard and influence decisions that affect them.

New ‘Creer para Ver’ School Libraries Boost Literacy Among Children in Oruro, Potosí, and Cobija

In a joint effort to strengthen literacy skills, ChildFund Bolivia and Natura, through the “Creer para Ver” project, inaugurated community libraries in Oruro, Potosí, and Cobija, benefiting hundreds of primary school students. The goal is to improve academic performance and the holistic development of children. The libraries were implemented in the educational units “Villa El Progreso 2 de Febrero” in Oruro, “Jaime Mendoza” in Potosí with support from our local partner Estrella del Sur, and “Madre Nazaria” in Cobija (Pando). In total, the project directly benefits over 800 primary school students across the three cities.

Aida Backpack 3.0 arrives in Riberalta and Guayaramerín to strengthen comprehensive sexuality education

The Aida Backpack reaches its third version and heads to Riberalta, Beni! With the aim of strengthening Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) for adolescents, methodological training for this valuable tool began with staff from the Ethnic Cirabo and San Andrés health centers. This initiative, driven by Estrella del Sur with support from ChildFund Bolivia and the Comprehensive Health Coordination Program (Procosi), seeks to create safe and informed spaces where children and adolescents can grow with confidence and well-being. Additionally, the process includes the transfer of the Psychological First Aid Kit (PFA), which, along with the Aida Backpack, will be implemented in Riberalta and Guayaramerín, generating a positive and lasting impact in Beni communities.

SUSTAINABILITY

Risk Award Project Kicks-off to strengthen climate resilience and equip schoolchildren in Chiquitano communities for disaster preparedness

The Risk Award project has begun in the municipality of Concepción, in partnership with APCOB and We Effect, aiming to support indigenous children and youth of the Chiquitano Nation to become agents of change in disaster preparedness and climate resilience. For the Monteverde community, this will translate into tangible benefits such as transforming their school into a safer and more resilient space through nature-based solutions like water harvesting systems, ensuring educational continuity during emergencies. The project will also strengthen youth capacities to lead a movement for climate justice, combining ancestral knowledge with innovative technologies to advocate for sustainable land management and the right to a healthy environment.

“Water and Dignity”: A Firm step toward WASH, dignity and equality for girls in Cochabamba

ChildFund Bolivia, in partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, launched the “Water and Dignity” project in three schools in the southern zone of Cochabamba. The initiative seeks to ensure access to safe water and dignified sanitation through the installation of water systems, renovation of bathrooms, and distribution of eco-friendly kits for conscious menstruation, along with training processes to eliminate discrimination. This project promotes school attendance for girls with dignity and without interruptions.

ChildFund Bolivia and Girl Scouts join forces for a sustainable and equal future

ChildFund Bolivia and the Bolivian Girl Scouts Association signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen joint actions in sustainability, protection, and gender equality. As the first step of this alliance, the “All for the Planet” program is being implemented, training 26 leaders to reach over 1,000 girls and adolescents nationwide, promoting female environmental leadership and highlighting how climate crises disproportionately affect women and girls. In Tarija, Oruro, and Valle Alto, girls led the replication of this initiative. Through playful activities, games, and teamwork, they strengthened their environmental awareness and reaffirmed their commitment to be change agents in caring for Mother Earth. These activities were supported by our local partners: Estrella del Sur, Organización Esperanza Bolivia, and Mosoj Kausay.

LIVELIHOODS

Empowering Youth in Valle Alto, Cochabamba, to build sustainable livelihoods and strengthen climate resilience

The ChildFund Bolivia team, along with Country Director Ximena Loza, visited Valle Alto in Cochabamba to witness the valuable work of its local partner Mosoj Kausay. During visits to educational units and communities, the quality and impact of their projects were evident, focusing on strengthening the rights of children, adolescents, and youth. Mosoj Kausay stands out for promoting sustainable livelihoods, strengthening community protection mechanisms, and developing school contingency plans. Their commitment and ability to mobilize the community make this organization a key strategic partner in ChildFund Bolivia’s mission.

“Entrepreneurial Connection”: Youth in Santa Cruz turn business ideas into action

ChildFund Bolivia and CEMSE, in collaboration with the Departmental Youth Directorate of the Autonomous Departmental Government of Santa Cruz, held a new session of the “Entrepreneurial Connection: connect, sell, and grow” networking event, a space designed for young entrepreneurs to apply their skills and strengthen their projects. During the session, business professionals shared tools such as the Canvas method, while entrepreneur Clever, manager of “Papi Chulo,” gave an inspiring talk on innovation and sustainability in entrepreneurship. With enthusiasm and confidence, participants presented their ideas, reaffirming that the path of entrepreneurship is built through learning, perseverance, and collaboration.

Youth Action: INNOVA LAB boosts creativity and innovation among students in Oruro

ChildFund Bolivia, together with its partner Estrella del Sur, launched INNOVA LAB with participation from seven educational units, a space designed for youth to develop creative solutions to social and community challenges. During an Express Bootcamp, students from seven schools applied the Design Thinking methodology, exploring ideas and creating innovative proposals focused on social transformation. ChildFund Bolivia celebrates the enthusiasm, talent, and commitment of this youth that inspires change.

ChildFund supports the reopening of the Gesell Chamber in Santa Cruz, fostering justice and upholding human dignity without revictimization

ChildFund Bolivia celebrated the reopening of the Gesell Chamber in Santa Cruz, a safe space where children and adolescents who are victims of violence can give testimony with dignity and without reliving trauma. This initiative, carried out in partnership with the Autonomous Municipal Government of Santa Cruz, justice system actors, and other allied organizations, represents an important step toward building more humane and protective processes for children.

Study findings unveiled in five cities: ‘Navigating Between Hidden Risks and Real Opportunities in the Digital Lives of Children and Adolescent

ChildFund Bolivia, in partnership with the IICC of the Bolivian Catholic University, Save the Children, and other organizations, shared the findings of the study “Navigating Between Invisible Risks and Real Opportunities: Children and Adolescents in the Digital Environment.” This research identified how these experiences affect the way adolescents navigate the digital environment and how protection strategies and family support can be key to mitigating these risks. The results have already been presented in La Paz, El Alto, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, and will soon be shared in Tarija.
