TBATE Questions

Q: Does Caera potentially harbor any romantic feelings for Arthur? - Aleks

A: I can't do Caera dirty like that and spill her secrets :T

Q: You had mentioned in a past Q&A that your favorite ability that Arthur has, had yet to be revealed. Is his new found ability to cut multiple people using the aetheric pathways with a single swing be it? - RichardC

A: Yes, I would definitely say this was something I've wanted Arthur to do for a while now, haha.

Q: Are dragons allergic to grass? - Feirune

A: Only during spring, in peak allergy season.

Q: Hey TurtleMe! In chapter 456, Veruhn and Zelyna seemed to know that it was Arthur who killed Aldir. But Arthur only revealed this to Mordain, Wren and a few others of the Hearth. So who told them about this? - Arakret ||| Q: When did the Asura's in Epheotus learn of Art killing Aldir? I always thought that would be something Art would reveal at an opportune time. - Patch

A: I didn't explicitly state it yet but it's not really much of a spoiler so I can divulge. Arthur told the people in Vildorial about Aldir's death so it's not surprising that it reached Kezess's ears. You can fill in the blank as what Kezess did after finding out this information.

Q: How does regis’s connection to Arthur work exactly? We see from the relic tombs that regis has a hard limit of distance he can go from Arthur however we’ve also seen him teleport right back into Arthur when he’s in another dimension ala the mirror room. Yet modern behavior we see none of that: regis didnt teleport to Arthur when arthur entered the void and the connection can be temporarily severed with no apparent complications. - Dragoncommands

A: Regis's "tether" limit to Arthur has grown substantially as Regis got stronger as well. There was a moment in the previous book where Arthur and Regis got seperated and Arthur felt like there was something intrinsically wrong. But as both their strength grew and especially Arthur, with having much more aether at his disposal, that limit that they had definitely increased to the point where it's unknown how far they can be apart from each other.

Q: How old is the world in TBATE? From my impresion in recent chapters it's been countless generations of asuras since the threat of the wraiths and the Epheotus exodus, yet asuras live to be thousands, if not tens of thousands of years old. I thought that Kezess was paragon of all asuras ever, more powerful and wise and old than any asura in living memory, until last chapter where it was revealed that he's just one in a long line of Kezess Indraths. - null

A: Ooh that's a juicy question and one that will be important toward the end of the book. Stay tuned and find out ;)

Author-Related Questions

Q: Do you change how a character describes a thing depending on how they perceive that thing? Are any characters unreliable as "storytellers" or will they always give an honest, unexaggerated description? - PrimordialPakWire

A: I try to have characters give accurate descriptions because readers are relying on that to visualize what they see. However, I do like having characters focus on different aspects and describe those parts instead, which may differ from one character to another. For example, Regis might look at a flower and simply describe it boringly since it's of no interest to him, whereas maybe Emily Wykes finding the same flower in Vildorial might stop and describe how beautiful it is because to her, it was important to see after working so long in the dreary lab.

Q: A while back you were talking about how Regis was your favorite character to write. Has that changed at all? If so who’s your top 2 favorite to write? - Kingofaz ||| Q: Which character is your favorite to write and which one is your favorite in general - Primordial of energy zeldris

A: Regis has definitely taken a bit more of a backseat this book but he still is enjoyable to write. I do need to always strike a good balance between being funny and being annoying though. I would say that he and Arthur are still my favorite characters to write, especially together but Sylvie is a close third.

Q: If you yourself could be of Asura lineage, what race would you be and from what clan? Also will we get a break down of the asura races and clans in depth in an encyclopedia of TBATE lore? - Marcutio | Caera <3

A: Since I've always been a fan of martial arts, I think the pantheon race would be pretty cool to be. And as for the breakdown in the encyclopedia~ I have no idea. That's a lot of work LOL. Maybe!

Q: How many endings did you plan for TBATE before settling for "the one"? - sayMyName

A: A lot! And many of them just had slight variations based on how I lead up to it.
