Ingoldsby Update February 2026

Welcome back to Term 4! We have another busy term with Charlotte McGregor visiting today. Charlotte has a wealth of experience in gymnastics and basketball, having run her own club in Louth, been heavily involved in gymnastics across Lincolnshire, and supported British Gymnastics in developing programmes. Charlotte will be back to teach basketball on her next day at Ingoldsby.

World Book Week

Next week, we are spreading reading activities across the week building to fancy dress on the Friday.

We will still do the WBD activities on Thursday but as we've shared previously, due to swimming, we have delayed the dress up day.

Children do not have to dress up! Not every child enjoys dressing-up, and that is okay. There are plenty of ways to take part.

  • No book to share? Try a T-shirt or badge that invites recommendations
  • Not keen on costumes? Use everyday clothes with one prop or label
  • Prefer non-fiction? Celebrate facts, subjects or dress as an author
  • Not crafty? Use hats, ears, stickers or a sign pinned to clothing

Flipped Curriculum

We are committed to reflecting and trying new approaches to make children's learning experiences as special as possible. Our most recent project is the 'flipped curriculum' which simply refers to us putting a non-core subject such as art or history at the beginning of the day. This is a more creative start to the day which we hope will maximise engagement. This will also support staff to implement sensory circuits for children who need them to help regulation and concentration as well as physical development. I have included example timetables. These are still subject to change with activities such as swimming and sports fixtures and teachers are free to move lessons around to have the most impact. We also switch some subjects from term to term.

So far, feedback from children has been very positive!

Staff changes

We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Woodcock back after her maternity leave on the 23rd March. Mrs Woodcock will be returning 3 days a week and a teacher has been appointed to share the role who will start after Easter but will be visiting to get to know the children in the meanwhile. Mrs Wells loves the performing arts and musical theatre, has experience in subject leadership and showed excellent teaching ability. Mrs Glendinning will be returning to KS1 fulltime. She has been amazing in Buzzards helping to maintain our excellent outcomes; achieving 92% above expected in writing and well above national in both reading and maths and grammar, punctuation and spelling (83% in each). We will be saying a fond farewell to Mrs Hall and Mrs Marshall. We will miss them both and I am very thankful for their contributions to the school in such a short space of time.

Supporting behaviour at Ingoldsby

We engage with continuous professional development for all staff at Ingoldsby. All permanent staff have accessed 'Team Teach' training which supports staff in knowing how to deescalate situations and understand that not all children have the same physiological and psychological challenges within their daily life.

We have a new trust policy for behaviour here:

As a staff we have reflected and this is part of the guide created for staff to support our interpretation of the policy.

Relationships and fairness sit at the heart of our approach. Learning is always the goal for all pupils in the class. Whenever we introduce something new, there will be a transition period as this is embedded and refinements made as we go.

Spotlight on safeguarding

SEND focus

If your child struggles with sitting they may need some work on their core strength.

Coming soon

Parents evenings are on the 28th April to allow for the new staffing arrangements to settle and give an opportunity for parents to meet with Mrs Glendinning and Mrs Woodcock.

Class meetings are at 3.10pm on the first day of every term.
