Council Meeting

The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

Youth Committee

The Youth Committee’s first bi-monthly meeting will be on Thursday, September 26, 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person.

Hi! Autumn Festival

The Hi Autumn Festival, co-hosted by Temple City and World Journal LA, is an event that combines the traditional Mid-Autumn festival with entertainment and gourmet foods, creating a one-of-a-kind experience. The event will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, and on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The festivities will be held at Temple City Park, located at 5939 Golden West Ave., Temple City, CA 91780. Join us for interactive lantern painting, capture memories at our fun photo zone, and explore an array of vendors. Enjoy live performances on the main stage, featuring music, dance, and cultural presentations that celebrate the rich traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. After the festival, we welcome you to enjoy a movie in the park night featuring a screening of Coco.

Movies in the Park

Get ready for a Family Movie Night at Temple City Park! This September, we're kicking off our summer movie series on Saturday, September 7th with Disney’s Coco. The next three Fridays we will be showing The Little Rascals, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and ending the series with Monsters Inc. (selected by the community). Each movie night will include a themed activity or craft starting 45 minutes before the movie!

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT MONTHLY REPORT

The Community Development Department has released its report for July 2024.

Building permit valuations in July 2024 were 43% lower compared to July 2023, and the fees collected also saw a decline. Despite this, the number of permits issued rose by 8%, with a total of 178 permits granted. Notable permits included those for a four-unit multi-family development, tenant improvements at Ace Hardware, and several new accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

In July 2024, the Planning Department received 11 new applications, including 6 ADUs, 2 house additions, a conditional use permit for a new tutoring business, a major site plan review for a two-unit multi-family development, and a time extension request for the mixed-use development at 9465 Las Tunas Drive.

Additionally, one new business license was issued in July 2024 for a fashion store.

Community Preservation remained active, with the number of cases opened in July 2024 increasing by 14% compared to the previous year. Of these cases, 54% were initiated by inspectors and 37% by the public.
