Director's Corner

Dr. Jodie Rommel, Director of Integrated Services

Dear Families,

I wanted to thank each of you who attended our listening sessions and the meet & greets. It has been wonderful to hear your feedback, your stories, and to get to know each other.

We have one meet & greet left during this school year. Please join us for appetizers at the Future Ready Center on Monday, March 31st from 4:00pm-6:00pm (flyer with details below).

If you have suggestions for opportunities to connect next school year, please fill out the survey below.

As always, there are multiple methods for having your concerns addressed. Here is the flowchart. You are always welcome to reach out to me. My email address is jrommel@psdschools.org.

With gratitude,

Jodie

SEAC Update

The 2024-25 Special Education Advisory Committee is made up of parents, community partners, and PSD school staff. The purpose of SEAC is to represent students with disabilities and advise the Special Education Leadership Team on their behalf.

The February topic was learning about Transition Pathways Academy and discussing public comment and public attendance at SEAC meetings.

You can learn more about SEAC by clicking the button below.

Correction

Last month, we shared some Dyslexia resources that were attributed to our Dyslexia team in error. Their only recommendation was the "Sold a Story" podcast. For additional resources, please see the "Supporting Students with Dyslexia" page on the PSD website.

Classified Employee Appreciation

Each February, we celebrate Classified Employee Appreciation Week to recognize the invaluable contributions our classified team members make every day across the district. We know that they deserve so much more than a week-long celebration! In Integrated Services, we literally couldn't function without them! We appreciate ALL of our classified team members more than words can say. Thank you to all classified staff for your hard work, commitment and dedication!

Staff Spotlight

Tina steveley

In honor of Classified Employee Appreciation Week, we wanted to spotlight a little known position in our district, Vision Accessibility Assistant, that is filled by the incomparable Tina Steveley!

Tina has been in the Vision Department at PSD for 6 years. She started out by making adaptive tactile materials for our visually impaired students and has grown into transcribing student materials into braille and making tactile graphics.

Tina loves everything about her job. She likes to be creative in making tactile materials and learning braille was a rewarding challenge for her. Tina takes pride in the work that the Vision Department does to support their students.

Outside of work, Tina loves to spend time with her family and enjoys traveling.

In the video below, you will see tactile books being used during instruction. These materials were created by Tina! This highlights how even our "behind the scenes" classified staff directly support students and learning.

Teacher passion student action video

Aleki Davis is one of our amazing Speech/Language Pathologists! Watch this video to learn how Aleki is working to make books accessible for all students. (Please note that Tina Seveley created the materials you see in the video!)

Project Search Article

The Coloradoan ran a story on PSD's Project Search on 2/19/25. Project Search is a career exploration and training program within our Transition Pathways (serving young adults ages 18-21.) This year, our Project Search partner is Poudre Valley Hospital. Read the article here.

Upcoming Events

Free Webinar

PSD community partner, Mosaic, is hosting a free webinar on Executive Functioning Skills on Tuesday, March 18th from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Executive Functioning skills help us meet our goals, regulate our emotions, and navigate complex systems like school, work, or being out in the community. This workshop will address how executive functioning skills are developed, potential signs of challenges, how to improve executive functioning skills, and more. Anais Campbell with the Arc of Larimer County will be the presenter. Click the link below for more information.

Join Integrated Services Leadership Team for appetizers and conversation!

The Social Circuit

Do you have a neurodivergent high schooler who would like to improve their communication skills, build relationships, decode nonverbal cues, and practice conflict resolution? PSD Transition Pathways is introducing a new group called The Social Circuit that will be facilitated by a licensed social worker. This group will meet twice a month on Wednesdays at the Future Ready Event Space in the Foothills Mall. Transportation is not provided, but if your student is interested in learning how to access public transportation from their high school to the Foothills Mall, Transition Pathways can help! For more information, please email: transitionpathways@psdschools.org.

We will be adding a Question and Answer section to the newsletter!
