Eagles in Flight

On December 6, the 4-H’ers of Eagles in Flight took 20 care packages to all the full-time firefighters in Youngsville. The firefighters in the attached picture gave us a tour of the Wheaton station and let the kids get in the fire truck. They were so excited to deliver cheer!

The 4-H Youth Christmas and New Year Charcuterie Class took place at the Franklin County Extension Center December 18.

Franklin County 4-H 2023 Gingerbread House Competition

We had four individual participants and one team of two. The creativity was great. Congratulations to all. Winners are: Cloverbud Division - Joseph Thornburg; Junior Division - Clara and Oliver Baker - 1st; Jamerson Kidd - 2nd; Senior Division - Holly Thornburg - 1st; Kendal Thornburg - 2nd.

4-H County Council

Franklin County 4-H County Council collected 19 blankets and 92 pairs of socks in an effort to help keep older citizens in our county warm during the cold months. Livestock

2023 Beef Producers Marketing Meeting

The annual beef marketing meeting and ribeye steak dinner was conducted on December 19 with 87 participants. Franklin County Women in Ag volunteers assisted with the event, and three speakers shared knowledge about methods of marketing cattle. Everyone enjoyed the annual area beef cattle producers marketing meeting and ribeye steak dinner with all the trimmings.

Small Farms

A two-day Small Farmer Drone Course was presented at the Extension Center on December 9-10. The course prepared small farmers and ranchers to take the Part 107 license test in order to become licensed drone operators.
