Caterpillars to Butterflies Nursery, summer term, week 9

There is talk of transformation in nursery. The caterpillars are now huge and we predict they will be making their cocoons soon. The children have been talking about how big they are themselves now and how we will be moving from nursery into reception class soon.

Keeping a close eye on their development.
Lots of talk about the caterpillars.
We check back regularly to see if there are any cocoons yet.

In our maths work we have been thinking about time and the sequencing of events. The children have been learning the days of the week, beginning to study what a calendar is, and thinking about the events of a day. We have also recapped a little of our positional language work from last week (over, under, behind...)

Practising a range of maths skills through play.

We've also kept our number formation work ticking over.

Writing numbers zero to five.

Writing is a daily key focus for us and it is rewarding at this time of year to see emergent writing and mark making popping up everywhere during the children's play.

A lovely range of writing during play.

Thanks to everyone who was able to make their parents appointments last week. If you missed it, please just ask at the classroom door and we will arrange another appointment.
