VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE

SUBSTANDARD ROAD PROJECT-LAGO RANCHOS

Commissioner Brigid Shea, Precinct 2

Welcome to the Virtual Open House for the Substandard Road Project- Lago Ranchos. The purpose of this Open House is to share information regarding the proposed roadway and drainage improvements and to provide an opportunity for residents to offer input and comment on the project.

The virtual open house and official comment opportunity are available from Wednesday, March 4, 2026 to Friday, March 20, 2026.

Project Overview

This project is part of a countywide initiative to improve substandard roadways, as approved by the Travis County Commissioners Court. The primary objective is to upgrade existing roads that do not meet current County standards, thereby enhancing infrastructure integrity, improving accessibility for residents, and ensuring overall roadway safety. Project area encompasses several residential roads currently designated as substandard roads. These roads have narrow lanes, deteriorated pavement, and poor drainage conditions.

Proposed Improvements

  • Reconstructing 3493 LF of pavement for La Paloma Lane, 1762 LF of pavement for Pecos Drive and 2090 LF of pavement for Dos Amigos. This also include reconstructing approximately 165 LF of pavement for Sierra Vista, 102 LF of pavement for Agua Frio and 165 LF of pavement for Blanco Drive intersecting La Paloma lane.
  • Improving driveways along La Paloma Lane, Pecos Drive and Dos Amigos.
  • Improving La Paloma Lane and Pecos Drive to not flood in a 25-year design storm event including cross culverts and ditches.
  • These measures are designed to provide long-term durability, improve traffic flow and drainage.

What's Happening Now?

The Design Team has completed the Preliminary Engineering Design. The proposed design includes two 11-foot travel lanes with a crowned asphalt pavement structure. Retaining walls will be incorporated where necessary. For La Paloma Lane, the design calls for raising the roadway profile to accommodate box culverts capable of managing a 25-year storm event, along with ditches on both sides to enhance water conveyance. Additionally, cross streets within the subdivision—Sierra Vista, Agua Frio, and Blanco Drive—will be integrated into the improvements along La Paloma.

Dos Amigo Drive and Pecos Drive will also receive a crowned asphalt pavement structure. Portions of these roads will include ditches on both sides, transitioning back to existing sheet flow conditions where appropriate.

The Preliminary Engineering Design, along with estimated construction costs and a proposed timeline, has been submitted to the County. Detailed design efforts are scheduled to begin following community engagement. Roll Plot: LR_Roll_Plot_60_12092025.pdf
