This week, Year 4 have explored the world around them through our Stories of the Stones project by crafting autumn poetry and investigating what makes a sustainable city in Geography.
On Monday, our friend Don from Stories of the Stones visited to help us analyse our leaf hunt from last week and guide us in crafting some beautiful autumn poetry, with the children coming up with some wonderfully creative ideas inspired by their findings.
On Tuesday, the children continued their gargoyle work, using papier-mâché to bring their imaginative creature faces to life.
In English this week, we have been revisiting fronted adverbials. We began by exploring some muddled-up sentences and identifying the fronted adverbials, which then helped us use busy images as inspiration to write our own sentences using fronted adverbials.
In Geography, the children have been learning about sustainable cities and researching renewable and non-renewable energy. This knowledge helped them organise a town hall meeting on Thursday, where they discussed how we could change our city to make it more sustainable.
