What even are Sea Lice?
Sea lice, or as we call them here at Sea Soothe the "mosquito of the ocean", are microscopic jellyfish larvae mostly located in the West Atlantic Ocean, including the Caribbean, Florida, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Most of the time these little pesters get trapped in your bathing suit and sting you.
Why are they a problem?
Sea lice cause multiple problems for us beachgoers. The main problem that our product solves is the sting/rash that they leave on our skin. The sting can distract people from actually enjoying their time at the beach, or even prevent them from going in the first place. Furthermore, the sting, depending on how many and how major the stings are can last about 7-12 days. This presents the problem of discomfort throughout the rest of the week not only during your time at the beach
About Us
Founded in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica, a teenager named Zohar Avital has a driving passion for surfing and realized there was a recurring problem, and nobody was doing anything about it. This problem was Sea Lice. During the dry season in Guanacaste Costa Rica, Sealice poses a big issue for beachgoers, surfers, or families on vacation because of their long-lasting and irritating bites. So one day Zohar came to school realizing that his whole body was covered in bites after surfing earlier that morning. This leads to nonstop itching throughout the day. All of this led to him researching the topic and discovering what can help soothe the bites. He experimented with 3 oils, lavender, tea tree, and aloe vera, and decided that they would all work better mixed in a spray.
