Volume 2; Issue 1 : Fall 2025 Mid-Season Recap
RED FOX WOMEN'S SOCCER MID-SEASON RECAP
Marist Women’s Soccer started their preseason on July 31st, where they would begin to develop the team’s culture and style of play with a stronger competitive edge. The Red Foxes opened the 2025 campaign with a competitive non conference slate against top level opponents, like Fordham, Colgate, NJIT, Binghamton, Holy Cross and New Haven. With adverse results in the non conference slate, this young group would develop key skills of tenacity, perseverance and leadership to prepare themselves for the start of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference! As conference play began, the squad made history with their best start since 2018, going undefeated halfway through the MAAC schedule making an incredible testament to the program’s growing momentum, revamped attacking creativity and depth. With the toughest battles ahead, this Red Fox team is hungry for more conference points with only 3 home games left in the regular season!
Already reaching new heights in play style and statistical categories from the previous years, the initial foundations of the program remained the same. Preseason began at the end of July with the team’s opening dinner in the Cornell Boathouse on the Hudson River and three weeks in the Gartland Commons Dorms. With team culture and style play identity being the main focuses of preseason, the student-athletes worked diligently to study their Marist Women’s Soccer Playbook and build their relationships through team bonding. Follow along below to see more of what Marist Women’s Soccer has been up to on this Fall 2025 Mid-Season Recap!

PRIDE, PREPARATION AND LOVE
PRESEASON
Preseason Day 1 is an exciting and well anticipated day of reunion, as Marist Women's Soccer moves into Tom&Mary Ward Dorm, gathers together for dinner in The Cornell Boathouse and receive all their Red Fox training gear for the start of preseason!
The second day of preseason is the first day of training, where the players take on their fitness and strength assessments, as well as play for the first time together as the 2025 Marist Women's Soccer team. The first week to two weeks engages in two sessions a day, typically a morning and an afternoon session to prepare for the season to come. This picture was taken at Tenney Stadium on August 2nd!
The student-athletes have Fox Friends on the team, typically an underclassmen and upperclassman are paired together to build mentorship and connections starting in the early summer months. In preseason, the Fox Friends are tasked to read about 10 pages a night of Marist Women's Soccer preseason book, The Wolfpack By Abby Wambach. The team wrapped up their final book summary and takeaways on the way to scrimmage Providence!
There are many opportunities for team bonding on bus trips and Marist Women's Soccer got lots of bonding on their trip to Providence! Marist Athletics also rides in style with Leprechaun in the brand new wrapped bus.
Marist Women's Soccer also has five family groups that take time to meet on their own to share meals, compete in training games and they went All-In on these Escape Rooms this preseason.
Marist athletics has many resources available to the student-athletes and Marist community, including using the pool in McCann for some preseason swim recovery!
Preseason also includes Strength and Conditioning with Coach Ben! Coach Ben helps our Women's Soccer players with strength, agility and muscle maintenance and recovery throughout the season. His pride in both Marist and the Women's Soccer program is highly recognized by all his support and often his attendance at Marist Women's Soccer home games!
Women's Soccer painted plant pots this preseason in McCann's large multimedia room. With lots of creativity and artistic skill on display, the players wrote a brief message of hope for their small plants as they grow before putting the paper at the bottom of the pot. They added soil and plant seeds of their choosing in a growth minded fun team activity.
Preseason training is hard work and can be incredibly rigorous, but wouldn't be as much fun without the people and family that is strengthened along the way.
Marist Women's Soccer traveled to Sophomore Margaret Johnson's family home on their trip to Holy Cross to enjoy a top tier family dinner, games and bonfire. One of the most reoccurring favorite memories of many Marist Women's Soccer Alumni are the travel trip meals at teammate's homes and the fun family centered memories they make.
