Leo in 4W has been awarded Star Writer for his outstanding newspaper report, which was inspired by our class text The Corinthian Girl as part of our Ancient Greece topic. His report focused on the striking and engaging headline of a slave girl becoming a future Olympian, immediately capturing the reader’s attention and creating a strong sense of interest. Leo demonstrated an excellent understanding of the key features of newspaper writing expected at Year 4. He crafted a powerful headline and used a clear introductory paragraph to summarise the main events, ensuring his reader was quickly informed. Throughout his report, he carefully organised his ideas into well-structured paragraphs, maintaining a clear and logical flow. Leo also used ambitious vocabulary linked to our Ancient Greece learning, showing a strong awareness of the historical context. His writing was engaging, imaginative and purposeful, demonstrating both creativity and technical skill. Be proud, Leo. Well done!
Well done to Stanley R in 2J who has been awarded ‘Star Writer’ this week. Stanley was chosen for his beautiful presentation skills. Year 2 have been writing the story of The Gingerbread Man, but with a twist. The story is set in 1666, and the Gingerbread Man’s escape leads to the start of the Great Fire of London. Stanley punctuated all his work correctly and included features such as expanded noun phrases and fabulous adjective choices. Well done, Stanley!
This week’s star writer is Jacob from 5G. Jacob has written a fantastic diary entry as part of our work on The Nowhere Emporium. His diary entry includes relative clauses, descriptive language and parenthesis (which has been correctly punctuated!) and matches the style of the character from the book. An excellent piece of work, Jacob, well done!
Anna from 5W produced a super information text all about the ‘Life Cycle of a Chicken’. She drafted her piece first making sure she included lots of year group expectations and thought carefully about her layout. She used her knowledge of what she had learnt in science as well as seeing the real-life chicks to help support her writing. This was certainly a piece to be proud of. Well done, Anna!
Congratulations to Imogen Naylor (2M) for her fantastic efforts in her writing all term! Imogen always makes sure to use capital letters, finger spaces, and full stops in her work. When editing, she carefully checks and improves her writing- all wonderful signs of an excellent writer in the making. Well done, Imogen!
Congratulations to Sammy in 4W who has been chosen as 'Star Writer' this week. He has blown us all away with his fantastic Non-Chronological report on Fishbourne Roman Palace. Great job, Sammy. Be proud!
This week’s Star Writer is Ismaeel in 6C, class. Ismaeel wrote a fantastic diary entry from the viewpoint of the central character in the story Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo. Through this piece of writing, Ismaeel was able to portray the thoughts and emotions of a child evacuee during World War Two. It had an informal tone and used fantastic vocabulary choices.
This week’s Star Writer is Willow from 2S for her descriptive poem. Can you guess the fruit she is describing from the fantastic adjectives she has selected? Willow also presented the poem using an accurate structure, used beautiful handwriting, excellent spelling and correct use of commas to punctuate. Well done Willow!
