Through a Dog's Eyes

For this project, we were tasked with choosing a book we’ve already read and creating our own version of it. I based my project on A Dog’s Purpose and A Dog’s Journey, books I truly loved reading as a kid. Through this process, I learned how to transform images into cut-media pieces, and I chose to work with construction paper for my design. I’m really pleased with how it turned out. My hope is that when my audience sees this book, it sparks memories of reading it themselves, taking them back to the time when they first experienced it, likely during their childhood, just as it does for me.

Danger Things

For this project, we were tasked with designing a movie poster in a genre of our choice, using a consistent palette of five colors throughout the piece. I learned how to cut images from the internet and recolor them in a way that preserved and highlighted their intricate details. I chose the science fiction genre for my poster, and I hope my audience can clearly see that through the design and thoughtful color placement across all the elements. My goal was to create a piece that captures the feeling of uncertainty and fear. A person overwhelmed by the unknown, unsure of what’s coming next, but sensing that danger may lie ahead.

Thriving to Surviving

I created a photo montage with the goal of conveying an important message to my audience. Through this project, I learned how to carefully cut out and layer multiple images to align with my theme and present a visual narrative. While I feel that with more time I could have refined the piece further, I am proud of how it turned out. The message behind this montage emphasizes the need to care for our environment. It highlights the impact of deforestation, how cutting down trees for our own use harms the animals that depend on those ecosystems to live and thrive.

Postcard from Paradise

This postcard design showcases the vacation destination of Maui, Hawaii. In creating it, I learned how to combine various online images to craft the central design. My goal was to capture the essence of a vintage postcard, the kind you’d find in a store. I’m thrilled with how it turned out, it exceeded my initial vision when I first began this project. I hope viewers notice and appreciate the intricate details, from the background to the images placed inside the letters.
