Dear University Community,

Welcome back Dustdevils! Here’s hoping your Spring Break was both meaningful and relaxing.

  • Did you know peanut butter is one of the most nutritious products always in demand at our Dusty’s Food Pantry? That’s why we’ve partnered with the “Jars of Love” Peanut Butter Drive project led by Laredo Medical Center and the South Texas Food Bank. You can help replenish this vital resource at our Dusty’s Food Pantry by donating to the cause. Details below.
  • Tomorrow, March 18, join in the QEP-UV Friendship Bracelet event and make a UV changing Friendship Bracelet from 10 am. - 12 p.m. in the STC Rotunda! Visit https://www.tamiu.edu/learnqep/ to learn about the end-of-semester Loteria!
  • The Spring All-Majors Career Fair is this Wednesday from 1 – 4 p.m. Network and connect with organizations for full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities with companies from Laredo and across the country.
  • Also Wednesday, check out the Flute Studio Recital in the CFPA from 6 – 7 p.m. It’s free and a great way to relax and enjoy student talents.

  • The Big Event is Saturday, March 22 at the Haynes Recreation Center. Join hundreds of your classmates, friends, faculty, staff, and alumni as we gather to show how Dustdevils can impact this community. Find out more.
  • Also ahead, our traditional Discover TAMIU, (now in its 11th year of offer) is Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. We’ll have over 120 activities, events and performances for audiences of all ages. It’s free, family fun and open to all. It helps us to share TAMIU’s dynamic story of the changes and opportunities that the University makes real every day.   • Maymester, Summer, and Fall schedules are now available. Get ahead, set up your advising appointments and register for classes with details here and on the Registration Hub.

Dustdevil Athletics:

  • Don’t forget, your Dustdevil Baseball and Softball teams are back at bat with games as follow:
  • Baseball: Away games at Angelo State University will be played this Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday in a double-header at 4 and 7 p.m.
  • Softball: Friday brings a home double-header against St. Mary’s University with games at 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.

TAMIU All Majors Career Fair Set Wednesday, March 19, Additional Events Offered

Career-seekers are invited to attend the upcoming TAMIU Spring 2025 All Majors Career Fair Wednesday, March 19 from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

TAMIU's Border Voices Lecture Series Returns with Offering Thursday, March 20 at LCA

TAMIU's Border Voices Lecture Series continues with an upcoming film screening and conversation with Paloma Martínez this Thursday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Laredo Center for the Arts. 

Martínez began her storytelling career as a labor organizer in her native Houston, TX. With her films, she hopes to empower communities and spark dialogue.

In 2018, Paloma was named one of the “25 New Faces of Independent Film” by Filmmaker. She graduated from Stanford University's Documentary Film MFA program and is an assistant professor of Radio, Television, and Film at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

The Big Event Returns Saturday, March 22

Join us Saturday, March 22 for a day of service and giving back to our community! Volunteers earn community service hours and work alongside members of our University community to beautify Laredo.

Discover TAMIU Set for Saturday, March 29

Discover TAMIU makes its 11th year return Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Enjoy some 125+ activities spanning across our campus. We'll see you there!

All activities are free and open to the public.

Peanut Butter Drive Benefits Dusty's Food Pantry

Individuals are encouraged to drop off their donations of peanut butter and other nut butters in plastic jars to Dusty's Food Pantry, located on campus at STC 226. All donations will benefit our University's Food Pantry.

TAMIU CAMP Collects Long-Sleeved Shirts to Benefit Farmworkers

TAMIU's College Assistance Migrant Program will collect long-sleeved shirts to help farmworkers. Donations can be made at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center (ZSC) 222 or in person at the Breezeway on Wednesday, March 26.

We Are Not Your Pets: A Reminder on Wildlife

TAMIU’s 300-acre campus is also home to an extended community of regional wildlife. While campus wildlife may be beautiful, we ask that you please exercise caution when walking or driving on campus. Please bear in mind that these are wild animals and should never be approached.
