Dustdevils are joining the more than 153,000 students at Texas A&M University System campuses who have access to TELUS Health Student Support, a free, confidential mental health care app launching today. - I am also delighted to share news about our dedicated efforts to continue to support student and employee well-being here at TAMIU. We are joining other members of The Texas A&M University System in a partnership with the Jed Foundation (JED), a national leader in establishing best practices and policies on student mental health, suicide prevention, and substance misuse. Select TAMIU students and full-time faculty and staff are asked to participate in a Healthy Minds Study with the University of Michigan. Please participate in this important survey.
- Deadline to enroll for “Flex” Term undergraduate courses is tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 6. You can enroll in or add courses help you complete your degree plan faster. Flex Term classes end at the same time as regular term classes. Here’ s more.
- As part of the 2024 Black History Month Celebration, Dr. Peter Haruna, TAMIU professor of Public Administration & Government and Co-Chair of TAMIU VOICES, will present “Marginalization in Politics and Policy: The African American Experience” Wednesday, February 7, from 4:25 - 5:45 p.m. in Bob Bullock Hall, room 103. The presentation will discuss disenchantment with and distrust for government officials and institutions undermining U.S. democracy. Consequences of marginalization, and African Americans’ responses will be explored. It’s free and open to the public.

TAMIU Launches New TELUS Health Student Support App
TAMIU is providing enrolled students a way to prioritize their mental health. Starting Monday, Feb. 5, students will be able to download TELUS Health Student Support, a free, confidential mental health care app. TELUS offers 24/7 access to immediate support or to schedule professional short-term counseling. Service is available in multiple languages.
TAMIU Continues Free 'FAFSA for U' Sessions on New Application
We're hosting a series of free FAFSA Drives to help students navigate the U.S. Education Department’s new Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Our next drive is happening Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center Testing Center Lab 201.
Rhizome @ TAMIU
“Rhizome” is a multidisciplinary contemporary art project organized by Artist and Visiting Assistant Professor Crystal Wagner that will be created at TAMIU this Spring 2024. It involves the collaboration between faculty and students in the music, art, dance, theater, and humanities and the community at large.
Several opportunities will be offered for public participation, including Open Build Days, and printmaking workshops. Open Build Days are scheduled to occur every Friday through March 15, 2024, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts (CFPA) main lobby.
Coming Up: Printmaking workshops are scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25, from 1 - 5 p.m. in the CFPA Printmaking Studio, room 220 A
Deadline for TAMIU 'Flex' Courses Tuesday, Feb. 6
TAMIU students who want to accelerate their degree progress through a “Flex” Course only have until Tuesday, February 6 to do so.
