Inspiring - Inclusive - Empowered
We acknowledge the Minjungbal people, of the Bundjalung Nation, who are the original custodians of the land on which the school proudly stands. We raise our hands to the sky that covers the Aboriginal land. We touch the ground in the care of the Aboriginal land. We place our hands on our hearts in love of the Aboriginal land.

Winter Festival
Get excited! We are planned and prepped for a massive weekend this weekend. If you said you could help on Saturday, drop in at any time, we have a list of jobs to complete and will be dishing them out!
When you arrive on Sunday make sure you park in the big parking field. If you are helping with Sunday set up, once again we will have a list going. You can see Will, Camille or Holly.
A reminder, this is a community event and we never want our families to miss out. If you need any support to ensure your children can attend and engage in the activities, please see Will for a Winter Festival pack.

The Pocket School Athletics Carnival
We had an epic day last week at our school Athletics Carnival. The kids ran and jumped and threw. There were smiling faces everywhere as we completed our track and field events. A bug thanks to Lyndi Hauenstein and Lou for their organisation of this great event.

Keeley Perandis will be taking leave for all of Semester Two. Keeley is an amazing teacher and I know the students and families will miss her greatly. She has also slotted in perfectly as a team member and will be missed.

Our SRC have requested a Pyjama Day for the end of term free dress day, so we are doing it! A note will come out next week.
Excursion - Years 3 - 5

Meal Deal on Friday
On Friday, 20 June, there will be a Meal Deal option as there is no canteen on Friday due to everyone being busy with Winter Festival preparations! Meal Deal notes need to be returned to the office by Wednesday, 18 June, please. The deal is $5 for a sausage and ice-cream (vego and GF options available) and $2 for extra sausage. Every child should have come home with a Meal Deal order form, spares are at the office. This is a cash only via the office meal deal - thank you!
Headlice at School
We have been notified of cases of nits and head lice among some students.
To ensure the health and well-being of all our students, we kindly ask that you check your child's hair for any signs of nits or lice this evening. For guidance on how to perform this check, please refer to the recommended methods provided by NSW Health (http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/environment/headlice/Pages/treatment.aspx).
If you discover any eggs or lice, we encourage you to begin treatment as recommended.
For further information on head lice and management strategies, please visit the NSW Health website or the Department’s website (https://education.nsw.gov.au/schooling/parents-and-carers/health-and-physical-care/health-care-procedures/conditions/head-lice).
Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community healthy.
P & C News
There are a lot of good reasons The Pocket Winter festival event is so special! Community, fun, and fundraising too. Looking over the funds we raise from Winter Festival it's clear that - while everything all adds up to a healthy figure, by far the most funds raised are from community offerings. In order are the cake stall, curries sideshow alley and raffles (last year approximately 10K between them). So, even though it might be another thing on our (probably long at this point!) to-do lists, many smaller contributions are the actual backbone of our big annual fundraiser. Thank you community for all you are doing - keep cooking, baking, tombola jarring and sending in your rice and slow cookers and coming in to help with what promises to be a sunny and fun day all round! Only 6 days away now hoopla!
