Senior Decision Day Celebration

We celebrated our seniors and the path they have chosen for themselves whether they will be employed, enlisted, or enrolled this fall.

Hayden Boeckman - Computer Science

I’ve known since my AP Computer Science class and my tech team experience in 10th grade that I wanted to pursue a career in technology. As a senior, I participated in a Career Launch internship at Forest Lake Area Middle School, where I had the opportunity to get paid while learning new technical skills. It felt great to be trusted to work on the school’s computer towers and Chromebooks.

Hayden will be pursuing a computer science degree at UW Eau Claire in the fall. He is looking forward to more experiences in his future to help him decide on an exact field. During his time in high school, he enjoyed hearing from software engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and data management professionals during Career Exploration Day to better understand the wide variety of paths within computer science.

Hayley Hanson - Architectual Technology

At the beginning of this year, I took an architecture class with Mr. Nicholls. I found that I picked up the CAD skills quickly. It makes sense...I've always loved computers. The more I got into the class, the more relieved I was to find how much I enjoyed designing. Mr. Nicholls helped me a lot too. I found that the more I talked to him, the more I wanted to pursue a career in the field. I love to design houses; and I'm excited to continue working on plans over the summer.

Hayley has found her niche through several CTE courses related to architecture. In the fall she will be pursuing an Architectual Technology degree at Hennepin Technical College. After visiting the school and program, she became very excited to use the technology available to students.

Mitchell Long - Radiologic Science

I've always wanted to help people since a young age. After I took Pharmacology and Medical Terminology, I was hooked on the idea of pursuing a career in healthcare. Taking EMT and earning my EMT Certification this spring solidified my interest. The Career Exploration Day Sessions I chose (EMS, PT, Rad Tech, etc.) really helped me understand the daily life in different healthcare careers. They also confirmed how rewarding a career in healthcare can be.

With a strong interest in healthcare from his early high school days, Mitchell was able to take advantage of many Career Launch exposure and experience opportunities. Attending Healthcare Career Camp, selecting related coursework, and being genuinely interested and curious about healthcare careers, Mitchell now finds himself on paramedic ride alongs and loving every minute. In the fall, he will be pursuing a Radiologic Science degree at UW La Crosse.

Cecilia Freese - Animal Science: Meat Animal

Through Career Launch I was able to intern at Autumnwood Dairy Farm. Mr. Miron gave me the push I needed through Career Launch to gain a valuable experience related to my career field of interest. I feel like most teenagers don't realize that they can actually get a job related to what they want to do some day. That is what Career Launch can do for you. Autumnwood has been a great place to work. They treat their animals great and their product is amazing!

Cecilia has always loved animals and farming. She has grown up on a hobby farm. Here, she's pictured with their "pet" Stanley. She is also not afraid of hard work; and her experience at Autumnwood has pushed her to work even harder, which she loves. Cecilia currently plans to attend UW River Falls to pursue a degree in Animal Science; however, she hasn't ruled out working with farm implements as well. Whatever path she travels, she knows it will involve farming.
