Military Appreciation Day Support
Show your support for veterans and American Legion Post 543's annual St. James Military Appreciation Day (SJMAD)! This year's celebration kicks off with an a patriotic concert in the park — featuring Mike's Garage Band — on Saturday (9/21) at Woodlands Park Pavilion. The SJMAD Golf Tournament is set for Wednesday (10/9) at The Members Club.
Ahead of the festivities, neighborhood captains are leading fundraising efforts in SJP. If you'd like to make a donation, look for the "DONATE HERE" sign in the front yard of a home in your neighborhood (that's your captain!). Then, simply leave your cash or check in the drop box on the front porch of your captain's home. Click here to view more info about fundraising efforts on our online calendar.
Troon and Post 543 are offering a new line of SJMAD shirts and windbreakers in various styles for men and women. All styles are adorned with the MAD logo. Order yours by Friday (9/13) at The Members Club Pro Shop!
SJ Marina Art Show
sept. 27
Join the St. James Marina and The Apothecary at St. James for an outdoor art show! The event will run from 3:00 — 6:00 PM on Friday (9/27).
Enjoy FREE wine and snacks as you peruse (and possibly purchase) works by local artists. The artists are also featured in the St. James Marina Store.
New Hope Clinic Fundraising Concert
sept. 28
Banding Together 4 New Hope — an annual fundraising concert for New Hope Clinic — is set for Saturday (9/28) at Woodlands Park. This year's show will feature 3 bands: Back Porch Rockers, Mike's Garage Band and Salty Dawgs! In addition to live music, the event will include onsite food trucks and a beer vendor, as well as a silent auction and raffle.
Tickets are $20.00 each and are now available online. Or, buy them in person on either Wednesday (9/18) and Monday (9/23) at the St. James Community Center. Proceeds will support New Hope's ongoing work to provide healthcare and wellness services to underserved, low-income Brunswick County residents.
PORCH Donations
sept. 7-11
PORCH of South Brunswick County will collect donations of non-perishable food items from Saturday (9/7) — Wednesday (9/11). This monthly food drive supports local food banks and food insecurity support programs.
So, clean out your pantry and gather up unexpired items liked canned good, packaged snacks and bottled water and drop them off at the home of your neighborhood coordinator. Participating neighborhoods include: Cottage Lakes, Players Club, Pinecrest, Reserve, Waterway and Woodlands.

Women's Aging Workshop
Sept. 12 & 17
Yoga Unlimited NC hosts "Loving Your Body & Believing in Your Beauty," the first in an 8-part women's workshop series on embracing aging. Attend the first session on either Thursday (9/12) or Tuesday (9/23) at Yoga Unlimited in Oak Island, or participate via Zoom on Thursday (9/19)
The session will be led by a local life and leadership coach. Come learn to appreciate beauty and strength at any age with a group of supportive women from SJP and surrounding areas!
Personal & Property Protection Seminar
Sept. 24
Nancy Adelis, a SJP resident and safety and crime prevention instructor, will lead "The Four P's: A Program for Personal & Property Protection" at 3:00 PM on Tuesday (9/24) at the St. James Community Center. This FREE presentation will touch on the most useful tactics for protecting yourself and your property, with an emphasis on strategies for seniors. You'll also hear Brunswick County crime statistics and learn quick tips on staying safe while traveling, among other topics.
Health & Wellness Fair
Sept. 6
DON'T FORGET — The Brunswick County Health & Wellness Fair is this Friday (8/9)! This FREE event was rescheduled from last month due to Tropical Storm Debby.
More than 30 local businesses and organizations will be on hand to show you how to live, eat and feel better. There will be live demos on basic first aid and CPR, child car seat safety, and nutrition planning, as well as Silver Sneakers and yoga lessons.
Take a guided tour of the Brunswick County Botanical Gardens while you're there, and stop by one of the onsite food trucks for lunch!
