Kiyyaa Semeret Radio Host/DJ, Audio Engineer, and Student

As a former Infantry Marine Team Leader, Construction Worker, and Student, I have acquired a wide range of skills and experiences that make me a valuable asset to any organization in the realm of media and radio.

My military training has taught me discipline, leadership, and teamwork, which I have applied to my work ethic all of my life thus far. My love for music and human interaction is what keeps me going in my path to becoming a professional in my craft.

I am currently a dual major at Saddleback College studying Journalism and New Media as well as Radio. Since taking this academic path I soon realized that this is a field of work that I see myself thriving in.

In my time in the Cinema Television and Radio and Journalism department, I have taken part in several student-produced productions such as OC Now, OC in Focus and won first place at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges Spring 2023 competition in Webcast/Broadcast News, and my very own radio show, Sad Songs With Good Friends, that aired on Saturdays on Jazz 88.5 and OC Rock 88.5.

On top of hosting my very own 1-hour show about the music scenes, culture, and lyrics behind genres like Midwest emo, math rock, post-rock, shoegaze, and many more sub-genres of rock I also produced, directed, floor directed, hosted, and sound mixed several episodes of OC Now as well as co-hosted four episodes of OC in Focus, and wrote for the Saddleback Lariat where I was photo editor and copy writer.

I hope to continue my journey in audio engineering by hosting and producing my own show as a professional as well as take my skills and knowledge to California State Long Beach in hopes of majoring in film for editing and cinematography.
