holy spirit school newsletter Term 2, Week 8, 18th June 2025

Principal's Message

In Sunday's Gospel from John, Jesus reassures his disciples that even though he is leaving, a special helper, the Holy Spirit, will come to guide them to understand all truth. This message reminds us that learning is a continuous journey, and sometimes big ideas take time and help to fully grasp. Just as the Holy Spirit guides us to deeper understanding, we encourage our students to be open to new learning, knowing that with patience and guidance from their teachers and families, they can discover wonderful truths every day.

It has been a truly vibrant and productive week here at Holy Spirit School, the continued excellence in the classrooms across all year levels, the dedication and enthusiasm of our students and staff have been at a very high level. I've thoroughly enjoyed witnessing their learning journeys and the positive energy that fills our rooms.

As my five-week tenure as Acting Principal concludes this week, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the entire Holy Spirit community. Thank you for your warm welcome, your support, and your commitment to making this school such a special place. It has been a privilege to lead such a dedicated team and observe the incredible potential within our students. I wish you all the very best and look forward to hearing about the school's continued success.

Have a great week and keep smiling,

Josh Gaynor

Religious Education

Staff Spirituality Day

Recently, our staff participated in our annual Spirituality Day, which this year focused on the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, as called by Pope Francis. As part of our formation, staff engaged in a special pilgrimage, visiting several churches across Albury. This journey allowed time for reflection, prayer, and connection with our faith and one another. It was a meaningful opportunity to deepen our spiritual lives and renew our commitment to Catholic education through the lens of hope, service, and community.

Here we are at the Mark MacKillop marker on the Lincoln Causeway.

First Communion

First Communion will be on Sunday 14th September at 10am.

Extended Leave

I will be taking Long Service Leave for the next five school weeks and look forward to returning in Week 3 of next term. During my absence, Mrs Maree Brosolo will take on the role of Religious Education Coordinator. Maree is happy to be contacted if any matters arise in the meantime.

Warm regards,

Joanne Davies

HSS Advisory Council update

The HSS Advisory Council met on 10 June, wrapping up its meetings for Term two of 2025. We would like to thank all the HSS families who have engaged with our members, as we continue to provide the school and diocese with feedback from the school community. We are continuing to progress projects such as the outdoor play space and other items raised on behalf of the greater parent and family body. If you would like for us to raise anything at the next meeting, 22 July, feel free to reach out to one of our members, email us at hsschooladvisorycouncil@gmail.com or via the school office.

Have a safe and warm winter break.

School Fundraising

We would like to thank all of those families who participated in the 2025 HSS Pie Drive, with our yummy pies set to be delivered to the school 2nd July, time TBC. We will send out a compass notification closer to this date advising of collection times.

A huge thanks also goes to all parents, families and friends of the school who have put their hand up to give their time for this Saturday's Bunning BBQ, make sure you get along between 8 and 4pm this Saturday and buy a sausage or 3! An extra HUGE thank you goes to Nat Beasley, who is our BBQ warrior and ensures we have a spot on the calendar year in and out.

As advertised for both these fundraisers, funds made from both the pie drive and BBQ will go towards the preparation and organisation of the 2025 HSS Family Fun Fair and Art Show, to be held 24 October, 5:00-7:30pm.
