Another half term has flown by! I hope that today’s horrible weather hasn’t spoiled too much for you! Thankfully, we have plenty to report as we have reached halfway in our school year already!

This week has been Children’s Mental Health Week – thank you to Mr. Davis for coordinating a range of activities in this crucial area. The theme this year is, 'This is my place'. One of our mantras is that ‘Birkwood is for EVERYONE’ and the connection to school and feeling part of the Birkwood Family is very important to us.

Children’s Mental Health Week

Well done to our School Choir. They attended Young Voices in Sheffield this week and had a fantastic time. Thank you to our choral staff for enabling this experience. The children loved it and were a credit to our school.

Tuesday brought Safer Internet Day. The theme for this year is Smart Tech & Safe Choices, exploring the safe and responsible use of AI. UK Safer Internet Centre have produced some brilliant resources.

Our Sporting fixtures continued yesterday with a game against our friends at Ladywood Primary. The Year 5/6 Girls Team were defeated 1-3 though we saw some great entertainment from the girls in tricky conditions.

It has been brilliant to see our youngest children in Nursery enjoying football too!

Future Stars

I have been alerted to a few dogs being present on our playground. Some people may have fears or allergies around dogs. Please respect that dogs are not welcome on school property unless they are working in an official capacity. This is essential Health & Safety protocol. I thank you for your understanding.

It is always brilliant to see our children enjoying a range of activities – the Garden is looking great! Snowdrops have brightened our school environment!

Spring is on the way........

Thank you to families who have visited school as part of our Open Classroom sessions. Year 2 & 3 have been in the spotlight this week – we love to share what we’ve been up to!

I note again that Cudworth Library is looking terrific. Please utilise this brilliant facility.
