Our Manor

18-22 May 2026

Welcome to this week's newsletter

As we reach the end of another busy and successful half term at Manor School, I want to start by recognising the outstanding application and focus being shown by our Year 11 and Year 13 students as they continue through their examination season. Their maturity, determination and resilience have been excellent to see, and we are incredibly proud of the way they are approaching this important period. It was also a real pleasure yesterday to spend time with a brilliant group of Year 10 students in a Spanish lesson. The level of focus, effort and engagement on display was exceptional. They truly embodied the values of being Ready, Respectful and Responsible that we want every student at Manor School to aspire to each and every day. While my own Spanish remains fairly limited, their confidence and accomplishment certainly was not! We now head into the half-term break, which comes at the perfect time. I hope all of our students, staff and families have the opportunity to relax, recharge and enjoy what looks set to be some wonderful weather next week. For our examination students especially, it is important to strike the right balance — take time to rest and reset, but also continue with purposeful revision ahead of the return to school in June. Stay safe, enjoy the break and return to Manor with a fresh energy and a new spring in your step. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another strong finish to the academic year.

Year 11 exam timetable

We will be sharing a copy of the following week's Year 11 timetable in each edition of the newsletter during the course of the exam period. Students are expected to attend their normal scheduled lessons unless they have an exam (orange) or booster session (blue) in their subjects. Students can check their individual timetable on Arbor.

Every lesson counts

Each lesson includes clear explanations, opportunities for practice, and timely feedback to help learning really stick. Regular attendance ensures students can build knowledge step by step, stay confident in their learning, and avoid gaps in understanding that can make future topics more challenging. We would like to thank parents and carers for their continued support in ensuring students attend their lessons and are ready to learn.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

Year 9 students have received information about the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award in assembly and tutor time this week. This is an opportunity for all Year 9 students to improve themselves and the community through personal challenges in three sections: volunteering, physical and skills. There will also be a two day expedition in Year 10 as part of the qualification. To begin the sign up process, Year 9 students must email Mr Andrews (they have received an email already). For any more information or queries, please contact Mr Andrews on jandrews@manor.school

Year 7 Consultation Evening

Thursday 18 June, from 4pm Bookings for meetings with teaching staff must be made using the Arbor app or online portal by following the link to the Consultation Evening on the dashboard.    You will be able to start making the appointments at 8:00am on 9 June and the system will close to new appointments at 12:00pm on Wednesday 17 June.   If you have not already done so, the simplest way to register is to sign into the parent portal - please visit https://login.arbor.sc/ and select 'Forgotten password'. Athletics trials

On Monday 1 June the PE department will be holding a one-off after-school athletics trials session for Year 7 & 8 students. This is in advance of a Year 8 event on Thursday 4 June and a Year 7 event on Tuesday 9 June. Students must attend the trials session in order to be considered for selection for these events. The session will run until 4:15pm. If there are any exceptional circumstances which mean a student is unable to attend the trials evening but would still like to be considered for selection, please contact Miss Hustwait.

Student football contract

We are delighted to share the news that Tommy N in Year 9 has recently been awarded a further two-year contract with Northampton Town F.C. Congratulations! We always enjoy hearing about the achievements of our students outside of school. If you would like to share any success stories with us, please email enquiries@manor.school

End of FSM holiday vouchers

The national Household Support Fund (HSF) came to an end on 31 March 2026. HSF funded the FSM holiday vouchers. As this national funding has now closed, no further holiday vouchers can be issued.

Sponge a teacher

The quad was full of cheers and laughter at lunchtime on Friday when students had the opportunity to throw sponges or even an entire bucket of water at a teacher. The event was organised by the student council to raise money for REACHFest next term. Thankfully the weather was on their side, so even though they received a good soaking it didn't take the teachers very long to dry off in the heat.

Sports result

Our Year 8 boys football team were fortunate to have the opportunity to play at Sixfields Stadium this week, home of the mighty Cobblers. The weather could not have been more perfect and, sadly, we narrowly missed out on progressing due to goal difference. The team produced a great performance throughout the tournament and improved with every game they played. A special mention goes to Roni, Jude and Tristian for their excellent efforts and contribution to the team.

Careers and further education

Supported internship programme

Fitness qualification discount Many young people are facing a wide range of challenges when deciding their next step — from financial pressures and rising costs to uncertainty around employment, further education, and confidence after school. ICEPs are currently offering all school leavers a 50% discount on their combined Gym Instructing and Personal Training qualification, alongside 0% interest monthly payment options.   Their qualifications are Ofqual regulated, Focus Awards accredited and CIMSPA-endorsed, with tutor support throughout. They can also be completed 100% online, allowing students to study alongside university, part-time work, employment experience, or other commitments.

Army careers webinars The British Army are running a series of "Meet Your Army" online events designed to give parents/carers and students a clear insight into Army careers. These sessions are a great opportunity for students to explore career pathways and apprenticeships, hear directly from serving soldiers, and build confidence in making informed next steps.

The sessions are as follows:
