Colmore Junior School autumn term: week: 15

Highlights of the week

It has been a truly memorable final week of the term, filled with music, community, and celebration. On Monday, our orchestra and choir performed beautifully at All Saints Church, where we were delighted to be joined by Years 5 and 6 in the morning and Years 3 and 4 in the afternoon. Reverend David welcomed us warmly and spoke highly of our children’s incredible talents in singing and literacy. He also shared a thoughtful message regarding religious literacy and the importance of different faiths supporting one another and sharing in each other's celebrations. We concluded the term today with a vibrant celebration assembly, where we recognised the fantastic progress made by our Accelerated Readers in Years 3 and 4, cheered on our various sporting achievements, and announced the winning class of our Active Minutes initiative. It has been a busy and successful term, and we wish all of our families a very enjoyable Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

We started the week with our Christmas service at All Saints Church. The choirs and orchestra performed so well and really helped to put us all into the Christmas spirit! It was great to see so many parents attending and the year 3 children who carried the Christingles did it with such steady hands!

On Wednesday a group of Year 3 children were invited to perform at Alderman Bowen Day Centre. They sang a variety of Christmas songs to the citizens there and used makaton signing which they had recently learned with Miss Patchett. The children were an absolute credit to Colmore and the people at the centre were so very impressed by their singing ability and maturity at performing on stage in front of a large audience.

Parties were in full swing this week! The children had a great time playing games and sharing in party food.

Children across school have been getting creative with their Christmas cards, calendars and Christmas craft activities!

We just had to share this wonderful achievement from K in Year 4. He won a regional gymnastic competition. He had to do floor and vault sequences to be able to win this brilliant gold medal!

Cenyue won a runner up prize in a recent magazine competition to design a Christmas card. She won a voucher to spend in a toy shop on art equipment! What a superstar!

In our assembly today we gave prizes out to our Accelerated Reading superstars  and vending machine winners. It’s great to share such amazing reading achievements. It  makes all the teachers very proud! 😊
Here are some of our Year 3 Vending Machine winners with their new books to take home!
