We were very grateful to the members of Humberside Fire & Rescue Service who came in to see the children this week. The children enjoyed seeing the fire engine and having a go with the water hose.

Spotlight on Attendance 🔦
Please remember that absence from school = lost learning. Please also be aware that a period of five unauthorised days out of school will incur a penalty notice. Please take note of the changes to penalty notices and our updated attendance policy. This information is also available on the Absence & Attendance page on our website.
See below for attendance over the last two weeks.
Being in school and having the best attendance possible underpins all the many benefits of school for your child, such as their learning, wellbeing and wider development.
The Department of Education has advice on improving attendance - click here to view.
School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.
What an absence means for your child?
At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.
If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.
Safeguarding and Wellbeing - Help available from school
If you have any concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child who attends Parkside Primary or require any additional support or advice with regards to attendance please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Greenley, our Safeguarding & Attendance Officer. Parent Guides
Many children and young people enjoy exploring new and exciting genres and themes in the films and TV they consume – and as they grow, the maturity of this content will likely increase with them. However, without proper supervision and safeguarding, youngsters looking for a new title to enjoy – especially in the horror genre – might get a little more than they're ready for.
The emotional and psychological impacts of viewing age-inappropriate content can be severe. It's vital for parents and educators to know how to keep the children in their care as safe as possible while young people explore new, potentially grittier or darker, pieces of media. This free guide breaks down the risks of viewing age-inappropriate content, with a particular focus on horror, and offers expert advice on how to limit youngsters’ exposure to material that might upset or disturb them Click here to view as a pdf.
Child Safety - Dogs
In each newsletter we will be sharing some child safety advice, taken from the Child Accident Prevention Trust. This time we are sharing information about dog safety. The bond between your child and dog can bring fun and happiness to family life. But any dog can bite if they feel they have no other option so it's important to know what you can do to prevent it from happening.
