BIO:

Joshua Leggett (he/him) is a recent alum of the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts at Howard University, receiving his B.F.A. in Acting. Throughout his matriculation at Howard, his acting credits include: Junie/Narrator/Kid in The Colored Museum, John in Aftermath in the New York Emmy award winning documentary "Dangerous Acts," directed by former Dean Phylicia Rashad, Sinclair in boys don't look at boys, Reverend D/Baby in In the Blood, Aaron Bridgers in An Evening with Strayhorn, M4 in Word Becomes Flesh, Victor Mason in Big White Fog, and Black Stage: Classical Canon.

He is an alum of both Howard Entertainment and the BADA Midsummer in Oxford program. Joshua also studied abroad in Muldersdrift, South Africa, where he attended the International Playback Theatre conference. He is a multi-hyphenated artist who writes, directs, and produces as well. Residing within the DMV area, Leggett continues to exercise his passion of acting, while focusing on creating content and storytelling for both the stage and screen.

Artist Statement:

Joshua Leggett is a multidisciplinary artist deeply committed to the craft of storytelling through acting, writing, directing, and producing on stage and screen. His mission is to create and collaborate on projects that amplify the voices and experiences of Black and queer communities, ensuring these narratives are portrayed with depth, dignity, and authenticity. Guided by a vision of inclusive representation, Joshua strives to challenge societal norms and dismantle stereotypes by bringing complex and nuanced characters to life. Through his work, he seeks to illuminate the richness of these communities, providing audiences with stories that resonate, educate, and inspire. His artistic practice is rooted in the belief that storytelling has the power to foster understanding, empathy, and change.

In addition to his creative pursuits, Joshua aspires to be part of a transformative legacy that redefines how Black and queer individuals are depicted in media. He envisions a future where diverse stories are not only told but celebrated, becoming a normality in the culture. By championing projects that prioritize authenticity and representation, Joshua aims to leave an indelible mark on the industry and society at large.
