Mushrooms

In front a Bird's Nest mushroom and in back a Split gill mushroom. Go to https://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/feb2000.html and be prepared to be amazed.
Incredibly those are different stages of growth of the Bird's Nest Mushroom.
Another species showing two stages of development.
Same group a day or so apart
Thanksgiving hike in Mt Rainier National Park
Same mushroom group over time.
The variety of shapes, colors and textures is just amazing to me.

I took this group of photos in the fall when the brown color pallet caught my eye in the otherwise bright fall colors.

Ravenal's stinkhorn (Phallus ravenelii) growing in the front yard. Each stock only lasts a day. It really stinks and so attracts the flies very effectively.

These little mushrooms (below) are getting the only few minutes of sunlight they get each morning, as they are ensconced in a deep groove on the side of a rotting log. They're about 1/2 inch tall.
