Nomawonga Khumalo is a South African Producer, Writer & Director who is driven by the desire to craft stories that delve into the complexities of identity, culture, and human relationships in the modern African context.
Her most acclaimed work includes Five Tiger, a short which gained acclaim at global film festivals such as Sundance, Atlanta Film Fest, Pöff short film fest, Sydney International film festival. Her current project is a Nguni Nation, a documentary commissioned by Yale University Art Gallery focusing on 19th-century Nguni art traditions. This documentary will premiere at an exhibition at Yale in 2026.
Noma's scope of interest lies in exploring ancient and contemporary African cultures. She enjoys cinematically dissertating facets of their manifestations across various genres and formats.
