ABOUT

MOMENTO is dedicated to the work and life of artist Emanuele Taglietti. He learnt painting from his father at the age of six, and to this day, at over 80, he continues to work relentlessly - one painting at a time. Over the decades, he has created a stunning oeuvre that not only demonstrates his artistic mastery but also invites us to revisit an analogue past. From church paintings to his work on cinema posters and scene backgrounds for Federico Fellini or Ettore Scola to his infamous pulp comics. The exhibition invites visitors to retrace this artistic path and take a look back.

The end?

Taglietti is part of a tradition of painters that can be traced back at least as far as the Etruscans. The art of painting, which was passed down through generations, may have reached a climax - and perhaps also an end point. Because the question arises: Is this form of mastery, which he perfected over a lifetime, still necessary today? In his long career, Taglietti has developed an art that is rooted in a tradition of craftsmanship. And at a time when artificial intelligence can produce an appealing image in seconds, not only painting but man-made art as a whole is facing a profound transformation.

MOMENTO is a look back at an extraordinary artistic creation and celebrates art and its millennia-old heritage. But is also characterized by melancholy: Is this the end of an era?
