When Humberto Torres, president of Insurance Nation, founded the Miami-based agency in 1998, the young entrepreneur’s goal was to build an insurance business that would take outstanding care of its customers and employees alike. Torres always remembers that his employees are not just insurance agents — they are human beings. “We all have the same issues and problems our customers do,” he pointed out. “Recently, I had a fire in my home caused by a lightning strike during a bad storm. I was so thankful to have the support I needed to get through the situation. But not everybody has that. When there is a natural catastrophe, such as a tropical storm and flood, I help my staff cope. Before they can take care of their customers’ families, they need to take care of their own. Everything starts from within.”
