ALBION WOMEN'S LACROSSE 2024 Season Preview

They're going to be young, and they're going to be fun.

Graduating two of their three leading scorers from a season ago, the Albion College women's lacrosse team will rely on its youth to carry them this season. The roster sports just one fifth year and no true seniors to go along with a plethora of talented underclassmen.

After serving as the assistant coach for the last seven seasons, Emily DiRado was promoted to head coach over the summer. Joining DiRado is 2021 alumna Natalia Catanzarite, who was a team captain and a key defender as a Brit.

Junior Aaliyah Eudabe will lead the Albion attack following an impressive year in 2023. Eudabe finished second on the team last year with 44 points, accounting for 24 goals and a team-high 20 assists.

Kyndall Lewis had a breakout campaign in 2023 and will only build off that this season as a junior. Last year, Lewis scored 17 goals and dished out 11 assists. As a midfielder, she also picked up 30 ground balls and caused 23 turnovers -- the second-most on the squad. Lewis and Eudabe are two of six players that started all 16 games a season ago.

Kellie Flynn is another extremely versatile midfield that brings back experience for the Britons. Last year, Flynn netted 16 goals and controlled 26 draws.

Sophomore Logan Hutchinson is another midfielder that will build off her experience from 2023. Hutchinson scored 12 goals and added a pair of assists as a freshman.

The defense starts with fifth year senior, Audrey DeWaters. As a junior in 2022, DeWaters was chosen to the All-MIAA First Team before an injury limited her appearances in 2023. Last year, DeWaters still managed to cause 12 turnovers and scoop up 15 ground balls.

Since her freshman season, Julia Ames has made an impact on defense. Starting all 16 games as a sophomore, Ames has a ton of experience to lead a young Albion team. In 2023, Ames recorded 30 ground balls, controlled 20 draws and caused 17 turnovers.

Ellen Chown is another versatile defender or midfielder for the Britons who saw plenty of action as a freshman. Starting all 16 games in 2023, Chown can make an impact on either side of the ball, scoring six goals and causing 18 turnovers in 2023.

Sophomore Nicole Miller returns as the goalie for Albion this season. Miller received plenty of action last year as a freshman, appearing in all 16 games while starting 14. Miller tabbed a 6-8 record while making 94 saves a season ago. In the offseason, Miller has worked to become one of the top goalies in the league and brings back experience.

The 2024 season kicks off with a home contest against Aquinas College on Feb. 24. Albion will have two home games before a three-game road trip over Spring Break where the Britons will take on Centre, Brevard and Cumberlands.

Conference play commences with a Friday night game against Saint Mary's. On Apr. 5, the Britons welcome the Belles for a 7 p.m. draw as one of three home MIAA matchups. The regular season concludes at Alma College on Apr. 27.
