Pasg Hapus! Happy Easter!
Huge thanks to our PTFA for the Easter Eggs for the children as well as yesterday's disco, we really appreciate all their hard work.
They will be collecting teddies for the fete at the end of the first week back.
Next Term: external provider workshops
We've got a number of workshops coming up, free of charge. These are on our website calendar. Workshops are often advertised to schools via email and available on a first come first served basis and so we've been particularly lucky recently to get so many!
Tuesday 29/4/25 Music with Kinetic Theatre Arts: Gwyrdd
Friday 9/5/25 Football with Pentwynmawr U5s: Reception
Thursday 12/5/25 Cricket Wales (all children Y3 - Y6)
Friday 16/8/25 Maths at Work with Techniquest and the Office for National Statistics: Glas & Porffor
Thursday 10/7/25 STEM Workshop organised with Techniquest & CSconnected using funding from CCR as part of their Sparking Futures Programme - Exploring Compound Semiconductors: From Big Tech to Tiny Devices: Gwyrdd, Glas & Porffor
These dates and all previously advertised are available on our school website calendar (& copies of newsletters are available under News).
Reminder: Friday of the first week back we will be recognising the VE Day Anniversary: children to wear red, white and / or blue.
Pentwynmawr U5s Football
The football session has been offered to us free of charge to promote a new football team for Reception aged children.
Attendance
Our next round of Callio letters will go out this afternoon for those children whose attendance is below 95%. Please remember that these go out without exception and no offence is intended. Information is available on our website.
Certificates (95%) and prizes for those with 100% attendance for the term will be given out in celebration assembly at the end of the first week back (we didn't want the Easter eggs to over shadow the attendance prizes).
Our attendance is dropping and we have fallen to a point where achieving this year's target is unlikely. At our last 3 week review we have noticed an increase in those who will be receiving red and amber Callio records. Dosbarth Glas, however, are doing particularly well.
We have also been concerned about the number of late arrivals and recently contacted parents with more than 10 lates directly.
Whilst we have only ever sent out warning notices, our attendance policy does include the option to issue Fixed Penalty Notices for:
* unauthorised holidays totalling more than 10 days
* persistent lateness in excess of 10 sessions
* 10 unauthorised absences in a term (or equivalent i.e. rolling 12 week period)
