I am a point of reference for nurses, midwives, health practitioners and allied health professionals with an interest in research. I am a registered nurse with over 20 years of experience in the NHS. In 2009, I joined the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Unit in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and settled into this field of practice. I loved my role as a research nurse and soon developed clinical and academic research skills. I then moved on to a senior management role. After obtaining a Master in Research Methods and Methodologies in 2012, I took on a new challenge. I moved to Cambridge and joined the NIHR Cambridge Clinical Research Facility as a Clinical Research Matron. Here, I learned valuable skills and knowledge in first in human and phase I clinical trials as well as leading and supporting a large team of health professionals. Two years later, I moved back to the Midlands where I continued to lead clinical research operations as well as workforce development at Nottingham University Hospitals. In 2019 I joined the University Hospitals of Leicester as Head of Research for NMAHPs.
