PHONE POLICY DURING CMAS EXAMS

Dear Families: As we prepare to start CMAStesting it is important for you to be aware of our requirements for a secure test environment. Students will not have access to cell phones, bluetooth headphones or internet capable devises during testing periods. Please consider having your child leave these devises at home for testing days. If your child must have a devise to communicate with you after school pelase know that all devices will be powered off (not silenced or in airplane mode) and stored in a central location under teacher control for the duration of the the testing period. Thank you, Riffenburgh Elementary

Updated CMAS information

It’s that time of the year! In April, we will be administering the annual state required assessment - Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) in grades 3-5. We view CMAS as a low-stakes opportunity for students to showcase their learning. CMAS data does not define students’ work ethic, creativity, or other valuable skills, but it does help us celebrate academic growth! Riffenburgh has a strong tradition of success on CMAS, and we are confident our students will continue to excel.  Please make note of the dates for the assessment your child will be taking and, wherever possible, please avoid absences during the testing periods. Please note that, on testing days, if students arrive late after testing has begun, they will not be able to join their class until testing has been completed for the day. Having students on time and present on testing days helps us gather valuable data while minimizing interruptions to daily instruction. Please help us meet that goal!  3rd Grade (8:45-10:45) CMAS: April 6th - 8th & April 14th - 16th  4th Grade (8:45-10:45) CMAS: April 6th - 10th & April 13th - 14th  5th Grade (8:45-10:45) CMAS: April 6th - 10th & April 13th & April 15th - 17th

News from the Health Office

As we enter Winter seasons, we often see increased illnesses in our students. Just a friendly reminder, please do not send your child to school if they are feeling ill. Several symptoms such as Diarrhea, Vomiting, Fever of 100.4 or greater, Flu-like symptoms, and Respiratory viruses are reasons for students to stay home, and they may not return to school until 24 hours after their last symptom and without using fever-reducing medications.

Any medications, whether prescription or over the counter, that your student may need at school must have a signed order from your doctor, this includes cough drops, ointments & eye drops. We have been seeing several cough drops at school and medications in backpacks.

Please reach out to the Health Office, 970-488-7941, with any questions.

Thank you for keeping all of our students healthy & safe.

News from our SRO - April 2026

Students and Social Media: Do’s and Don’ts In today’s digital age, social media is a powerful tool that allows students to connect, share, and express themselves. However, with that power comes responsibility. One important “do” is to think before you post. Whether it's a comment, photo, or video, ask yourself if it's respectful, appropriate, and something you'd be proud to have seen by a teacher, coach, or future employer. Another key practice is to protect your privacy by using strong passwords, avoid sharing personal information like your address or school schedule, and adjust your privacy settings so that only trusted people can see your content. On the flip side, there are critical “don’ts” to keep in mind. Never use social media to bully, harass, or embarrass someone. It can cause real emotional harm and lead to serious consequences at school or even with the law. Avoid engaging in or sharing inappropriate or illegal content, including threats, hate speech, or anything that promotes violence or discrimination. Also, don’t assume your posts disappear. Screenshots and digital footprints last longer than you think. By following these do’s and don’ts, students can use social media in a way that is safe, positive, and respectful for everyone. Thank you, SRO Dave Wilson
