On Wednesdays We Watch Talent Shows By: Maura Williams

Happy sophomore talent show Mercy community! This year’s talent show theme was the 2000’s romcom classic, “Mean Girls”. The show consisted of a “Mean Girls” themed skit introducing the various acts like singing, dancing, and even balloon art! The sophomore talent show is each grade’s first chance to start to really unite as a grade. Leading up to the performance, the girls carefully craft up a class prayer and find a class song to represent the unique group of girls.

The movie (Mean Girls) opens up with a former homeschooled girl (Cady) moving to America and attending a public high school for the first time, here the girls introduced their first singing acts: Kenzie Konopik, Kylie Ojeski, and a duet by Leah Kinney and Isra Bronson

Next the girls dazzled us with their fabulous dance moves: Rae Barton and Hailey Carlsen dancing a hiphop routine, and Corrie Aguilar's amazing Irish dance

The next singing acts were very eye catching with Eva Bruegman singing a Billie Eillish song, Jasmine Jobson and Sianah Swait doing a cover of the song "Exploding Diaper" from the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and finally Clare Wilson wow'd us with her amazing balloon art making skills

The last couple of singing and dancing acts were spectacular: Yuri Torres started with singing “Vampire”, next Zuleyka Franco Hurtado and Shania Alvarez performed a duet, and dance team member Kiana Kaldenburg did an entertaining tap dance

Finally the Sophomore wrapped up the show with some comedy acts: Sami Huss and Pelle Nyenga showcased their rendition of Jojo Siwa’s “Boomerang”, then Margaret Beckner showed off her “magic skills”, lastly the cast finished the skit. Next everyone from the sophomore class debuted their class song and prayer for the first time.
Thank you Sophomores for showing us all of your talents!
