Our Manor 3-5 September 2025

Welcome to this week's newsletter

It has been a very productive week at Manor. Monday and Tuesday were dedicated to staff preparation for the new year, working together as a whole team and within departments to ensure a strong start to the term. We were delighted to welcome new colleagues in maths, English, science, PE and social sciences, meaning that our students will now benefit from a complete and permanent team of teachers across the school.

On Wednesday we welcomed back Year 11 at the beginning of their important year. They spent the morning in workshops on effective study and exam preparation, before returning to subject lessons in the afternoon. Year 13 also returned, taking part in support workshops and beginning their crucial final year of study. It was excellent to see such high uniform standards - please continue to ensure that your child is ready and prepared each morning to continue this.

It was also a day for our new Year 7 and Year 12 students to begin their Manor journey. For many, this meant settling into a completely new school, while for others—particularly those continuing from Year 11 into Sixth Form—it marked a significant transition. The day provided the chance to ask questions and explore new routines in a calmer setting before the rest of the school returned.

Thursday was the big day, with our full community back together for the first time. It was wonderful to see students in assembly, to catch up with them at break and lunch, and to hear about their holidays, new timetables and lessons. With everyone now back on site, the year has truly begun, and we can look forward to a positive term ahead.

Wishing you all a very good weekend.

LRC opening hours

The LRC is open after school until 4pm every day for students to complete homework or read a book in a quiet, calm environment. It will be supervised by our librarian Mrs Scattergood. Everyone is welcome!

Geography competition winner

We are very proud to announce that Darcy P in Year 9 has won the 'Children's Geography Journal Cover' competition (from the 20 June edition of our newsletter). This is an international journal focused on geography of children, youth and families and exploring a range of themes including sociology, anthropology, architecture and cultural geography.

The editorial team said the following about the entry: "We were so impressed by the creativity and thought that went into the design. After careful consideration of all submissions, the editorial team felt that your logo captures the spirit and ethos of Children’s Geographies beautifully."

Many congratulations to Darcy!
