USM Ice Arena husky Ice Hockey

Constructed in 1998, the USM Ice Arena features an Olympic-size ice surface and serves as home ice for the USM men's and women's ice hockey programs as well as other area hockey teams.

Men’s Hockey: Since the 1989-90 season the Huskies' men's ice hockey program has had numerous players earn post-season all-conference citations. The Huskies have had two players earn American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) All-American honors in their career: Jon Lounsbury (2004-2005) and Brian Collum (1999-2000).

Following the 2022-2023 season, Huskies' assistant captain Curtis Judd earned Second Team All-NEHC honors. He became the first skater to earn an all-conference nod since 2013-14. Freshman Matt Sullivan earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team for the 2023-2024 season.

Women’s Hockey: Established as a varsity sport during the 1998-1999 season, Huskies' women's ice hockey has had many student-athletes earn post-season all-conference honors. At the conclusion of the 2001-2002 season, goaltender Karen Jamnik became the program's first AHCA All-American. Forward Holly Manning became the second ACHA All-America award winner in 2002-2003. Goalie Haley McKim became the third All-American in program history following the 2023-2024 season.

The Huskies made their first conference championship appearance in 2023-24 after upset road wins over UMass Boston and Norwich. Goalie Haley McKim was named the NEHC Goalie of the Year and First Team All-NEHC for the third consecutive season. Defenseman Jess MacLean was named Second Team All-NEHC.

Huskies' goalie Haley McKim was voted the NEHC Goalie of the Year and First Team All-NEHC in 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-2024. She was named an All-American following the 2023-2024 season as well. McKim earned Second Team honors in her final season in 2024-25.

In addition to hosting USM ice hockey games, the USM Ice Arena also hosts games, practices, camps, and clinics across a wide-range of ages and skill-levels.

USM Athletic Department hosts Student Open Skate hours as well as Public Skate sessions throughout the winter. They also have teamed up with the Gorham Recreation Department to provide skate rentals for during school early-release and half-days.

Featuring views of both the ice rink and Hill Gym, the Alumni Reception Center or ARC hosts alumni functions and also serves as a meeting place for organizations from on and off campus. Plaques of the inductees of the Husky Hall of Fame plus displays highlighting the history of USM athletics can also be found in the ARC.

The USM Ice Arena features a concession stand and dining area in a heated space just outside of the rink
