Feel free to jump around! While you're here, you'll learn about my education, projects I've been a part of, and a bit about me as a person too.
About me...
I started out as a ballet dancer. Then I became a potion-maker. A fashion designer. A zoologist. An aesthetician. Then I got to middle school and realized I really needed to find a stable job.
I found journalism in high school and fell in love with the mass communication track. A few years and degree changes later, I found myself majoring in Digital Media and Communications with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. Like everyone else, I love food and found myself connecting to the storytelling often involved in media centered around it. A few (real-life) jobs and a service learning project to South Africa later, I found another passion in supporting my community and using creativity to highlight the stories within it.
Video projects
In my Advanced Video Production class, we worked with the City of Canyon, Texas to produce three different videos. I wrote the script, directed, and edited the video welcoming newcomers to town.
At my current job, I was tasked with creating a fun commercial advertising our annual family event for Halloween called Monster Bash. Working with a hired videographer, I was the Creative Director of this project and came up with the storyboard before filming.
I was a major part of fundraising efforts made by the Discovery Center Collective, a nonprofit focused on informal learning and sparking curiosity within Amarillo and the surrounding community. Our team highlighted the staff and volunteers from both locations and released the videos leading up to Giving Tuesday. I coordinated these interviews, recorded them, and edited them.
I studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa for about a month during my final year at WTAMU. We participated in service-learning projects helping their community members and learning about another culture across the globe. My time there made me much more aware of how I could help my own community, and I was in awe of the beauty there. Below is a video I made as a personal project from my time there.
Audio Projects
As a content producer for Maroon Productions, a small production company for WTAMU's College of Fine Arts, DJ for KWTS, WTAMU's campus radio station, I've created both video and audio pieces that have won awards. In my professional career, I've also done various projects for real-life clients.
Part of my time on the radio station included producing, editing, and recording audio for live broadcasts or for podcast episodes. One of the projects included hosting an acoustic concert we broadcasted live on air with a local musician for a program called Live Loung.
In an audio production class, we were tasked to find a musician to record live so we could show we learned best practices for audio recording. Close friends with some classical musicians, I worked with a partner to record a flute duet.
The Bateman Team
I was part of the Public Relations Student Society of America's Bateman Case Study Competition in 2020 and 2021.
The Bateman Competition challenges small teams of students to research, plan, implement, and evaluate a public relations campaign for a real client. It's hosted nationally with dozens of other competing Universities. I was part of a four-person team and served as creative director for both years.
Buffalo Advertising
Buffalo Advertising is the name of WTAMU's team for the National Student Advertising Competition. It provides the real-world experience of creating an integrated media campaign for a corporate client. I participated in two campaigns serving in leadership positions on the Public Relations Team and the Creative Team.
In 2021, Buffalo Advertising took on a real-life client: Pak-A-Sak, a local gas station and convenience store wanting to increase app downloads and purchases of brands such as Hunts Brothers Pizza and Ede's Meats that were sold in their stores. As the creative team lead, I helped guide the campaign in adhering to Pak-A-Sak's creative guidelines and matching their brand personality.
The National Student Advertising Competition partnered with Meta to make the Meta Quest 2 headset an essential product for college students. With a given target audience of 18-24-year-olds in college, Buffalo Advertising settled on the big idea of The New College Try to encourage trial with the headset amongst the target audience.
Photography
I've done projects ranging from engagement photos, graduation announcements, nature photography, and a lot of times just goofing off with my friends and family. I love to take candids and try my best to capture moments as they're happening rather than staging people.
Social Media
A member of Gen-Z, a generation considered to be digitally native, and an avid social media user, I have years of experience with social media accounts. Advertising for upcoming events, doing research to educate our audience on relevant topics, and serving as a liaison between guests needing help and the rest of our staff via Direct Messages. I'm savvy in Reels, the Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, and collecting analytics.
