Happy Monday Dustdevils!

  • We’re currently working to resolve power interruptions that have impacted operations for the Fine and Performing Arts (FPA) Building and the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center (ZSC).
  • Scheduled FPA classes will be meeting in alternate locations posted on main entrance doors of the FPA. Staff will be available in the ZSC to assist students. Services and functions will be delivered, but delays may occur as employees are temporarily relocated during this period. Updates will be provided by official University email.

  • This Wednesday, the inaugural TAMIU Borderlands Photography Show hosts a reception from 5 – 7 p.m. in TAMIU’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery. It’s free of charge and open to the public.

Congratulations to...

  • Our TAMIU software engineering students who are part of an innovative partnership with the Laredo Public Health Department that is working to develop digital solutions that enhance public health services. This collaboration provides students with real-world experience while equipping the department with modernized tools to streamline operations and improve community engagement. Find out more.
  • Our A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Texas Center for Border Economic and Enterprise Development has released a comprehensive analysis examining North American trade integration and the potential impacts of proposed tariffs on employment across 15 key states. Here’s the details.
  • Our TAMIU graduate students who participated in the inaugural “Pathways to the Profession (P2P) Symposium” held at Tarleton State University (TSU) in Stephenville, TX. The Texas A&M University System-sponsored Symposium helps students navigate the multifaceted transition from academia to professional careers.

Coming Up:

  • On Friday, Feb. 28. Dr. Ken Tobin, professor of Geology, interim associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences and a prolific researcher, will provide insight into his TAMIU-ARC grant award, “Tracking Graduate Student Success at a Hispanic Serving Institution,” as part of a lecture for the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects’ Spring Seminar Series.
  • Dr. Alan Amling, a TED speaker and leading authority on supply chain transformation and digital disruption, will be the featured presenter of the next iteration of the 2024-2025 IBC Bank & Commerce Bank Keynote Speaker Series on Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

Power Interruptions at the CFPA & ZSC today, Monday, Feb. 17

Power interruptions today, Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, are impacting operations for the TAMIU Fine and Performing Arts Building and the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center.

Classes scheduled in the FPA will meet in alternate locations that will be posted on the main entrance doors of the FPA.

Staff will be available in the ZSC to assist students. Services and functions will be delivered, but delays may occur.

Additional information will be shared with students by official University email.

TAMIU QEP to Host LEARN Activities this Week

Let’s celebrate World Cat Day! Join us to make a DIY Cat toy while we learn how community engagement connects to experiential learning!

DIY sessions will be hosted on Monday, February 17, 2:30-4 p.m. in STC Rotunda and Thursday, February 20, 9:30-11 a.m. in STC Patio. You can keep your DIY creation or leave it to be donated to a local shelter!

‘Borderlands Photography Show’ Bows at TAMIU Wednesday, Feb. 19

The inaugural TAMIU Borderlands Photography Show opens with a reception Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. The Borderlands Photography Show will remain on exhibit through Friday, March 28 in the CFPA Gallery.

Laredo Public Health Partners with TAMIU Software Engineering Students to Enhance Community Services

This Spring 2025 Semester, the Laredo Public Health Department has launched an innovative partnership with TAMIU software engineering students to develop digital solutions that enhance public health services.

This collaboration provides students with real-world experience while equipping the department with modernized tools to streamline operations and improve community engagement.
