Flo Hyman Award Banquet
Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:30am in the Larry K. Durham Hall of Champions
Flo Hyman Award Recipients will be honored for their achievements in athletics, in the classroom and in the community. It will be a chance for these student-athletes to be properly recognized for the impact they've made. Historically, The Flo Hyman Award is an award given to young women/girls in El Paso, Texas for their contributions to academics, athletics, and leadership. UTEP Athletics presents the award to three women, one from each of the following grade levels: elementary, middle, and high school. The award winners are recognized at halftime of a women’s basketball game. The Flo Hyman Award is named after American indoor volleyballer Flo Hyman, who was a strong advocate for gender equality in sports. She died suddenly in 1986 from Marfan syndrome, a condition she was unaware she had.
