  • University Convocation was a highlight as we presented our Innovador Award to Evelyn Summers and her husband, the late Carroll E. Summers, Jr., as well as our 2023 faculty awards and the State of the University address.

  • On Friday, we welcomed Reading the Globe author Marie Mutsuki Mockett for a lecture on her novel, Where the Dead Pause, and the Japanese Say Goodbye, a memoir examining her grief against the backdrop of the 2011 Great East Earthquake in Japan.
  • “Frankenstein,” the latest LTGI production, ended its run here this weekend, including special TAMIU student showings and tickets.

TAMIU Celebrates StormReady Certification

TAMIU will celebrate the official confirmation of its National Weather Service StormReady certification Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library Colonnade.

Astronomer Dr. Steven Finkelstein Presents TAMIU Lecture on the Formation of the Galaxy Thursday, Oct. 26

University of Texas at Austin associate professor of Astronomy Dr. Steven Finkelstein will present a lecture on the earliest formation of the galaxy Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. at TAMIU's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. Finkelstein studies the processes by which galaxies evolve through time, from extremely small systems in the universe, to large galaxies today, like the Milky Way.

TAMIU CFPA Hosts Several Musical Performances, Silent Movie Saturday

Several musical performances are scheduled at TAMIU's Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. All events are free and open to the public

Celebrated Novelist Sandra Cisneros to Lecture at TAMIU Tuesday, Nov. 7

One of the most iconic writers of modern literature, Sandra Cisneros, will visit TAMIU on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., sharing a reading, Q&A, and book signing in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. Presented by the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Humanities, this event is free of charge and open to all.

TAMIU Athletics Update

TAMIU is a member of the Lone Star Conference and competes in 11 sports: volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.
