In partnership with the Community Pharmacy Foundation and the University of Pittsburgh, AACP and the ACT Pharmacy Collaborative have selected 66 students for the inaugural cohort of the Community Pharmacy Student Scholar Leaders Program, recognizing their dedication to, and aspirations toward, becoming leaders in community-based pharmacy practice.
The program consists of four monthly sessions from January 2024 through April 2024, culminating with an immersive virtual workshop across three half-days in the spring. The program aims to help students develop leadership skills through the process of self-discovery and reflection, create a practice transformation philosophy to guide community-based pharmacy practice, and create their own career development plan.
“We are delighted to be bringing together student leaders nationwide who are committed to providing care in communities and advancing practice transformation," said Dr. Melissa Somma McGivney, Pharm.D., FCCP, FAPhA, director of the ACT Pharmacy Collaborative; and associate dean for student success and professional initiatives, professor of pharmacy and therapeutics, and executive director of the Pitt Vaccination and Health Connection Hub at the University of Pittsburgh.
"This program provides the opportunity for these student leaders to network with community pharmacy leaders, faculty, and their student colleagues as they explore contemporary transformation topics and grow as leaders in community pharmacy practice transformation."
