The metadata system has been improved to streamline tagging and ensure accurate, consistent tracking. Datasets now include multiple scenes.
Key Terms
- Dataset: One submission. A dataset contains several scenes.
- Scene: A pair of photos showing the same setup. 1 pair = 1 scene.
- Shot: One photo in a scene. Each scene should include only Shot 1 and Shot 2. No other shot numbers should appear in the dataset.
- Title: Directions specified in each brief. Titles must remain consistent throughout your datasets and written in English.
- Filename: The original name of the uploaded file (e.g., 12345.jpg).

Entering Metadata Directly Through the Portal UI
Complete this process for each scene
- Click a photo thumbnail to open its details on the right.
- Scene ID: Label Scenes in sequential order, starting from Scene 1 (ex. Scene 1, Scene 2, Scene 3, etc.). All photos from the same Scene share the same Scene ID.
- ❗Shot ID: Shot numbers must start at 1 for each Scene. For example, if a dataset has 3 Scenes with 2 Shots each, label them as: Scene 1: Shot 1, Shot 2; Scene 2: Shot 1, Shot 2; Scene 3: Shot 1, Shot 2.
- Title: Refer to directions specified in the Mission brief. Titles must be written in English.
- Repeat for all photos in the dataset.
- When finished, click Submit dataset with # files.
