Amplifying the Global Care Agenda

Celebrating the International Day of Care and Support and Amplifying Insights from the WD23 Care Economy Pre-Conference

This Sunday marks the first International Day of Care and Support (IDCS). The adoption of this day by the United Nations General Assembly is reflective of an increased global awareness of the importance of investing in the care economy, and we’re excited about the potential mobilization of resources towards care and support. This is a vital opportunity to harness our collective efforts to amplify insights from the Women Deliver Care Economy Pre-Conference.

On July 16, leading up to the Women Deliver 2023 Conference in Kigali, Women Deliver, the Asia Foundation, the Center for Global Development, WeProsper Coalition, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) hosted a Care Economy Pre-Conference, with the theme of “Strengthening Care Policies and Intersectional Movements for Care Justice'' in collaboration with a consortium of 14 partner organizations.

The co-hosts of the Pre-Conference have released an in-depth synopsis to share the phenomenal breadth of knowledge, ideas, and actions that emerged across the spectrum of issues that fall under the care economy umbrella. CGD also wrote a summary blog that condenses the main takeaways from that document and the rich discussions held throughout the day.
