**IB Primary Years Program Evaluation Report**

For the 22-23 school year, Riffenburgh underwent a rigorous evaluation of our IB program. Our evaluators produced a final report with their findings and we wanted to share some of those findings out to our community! We are highlighting one finding each newsletter. There are several standards of practice that IB looks for when doing an evaluation. Over the next month, we will focus on what they found in the Standard: Purpose: Sharing an Important Mission.

Purpose 3: The school community fosters internationally minded people who embody all attributes of the IB learner profile.

  • The school celebrates human commonality and diversity through annual events such as Hello Day and International Festival.

**Check out more about our IB program through our school website!

Reporting Student Absences

Parents can report their student's absences by calling the Riffenburgh Attendance Line 970-488-7936 or via ParentVUE (see instructions below)

Reporting Absences Thru ParentVUE

Why Use ParentVUE for Absences

If a student is not attending school for the day or series of days, the parent has the ability to document this absence in ParentVUE instead of making a call and leaving a voicemail to the attendance clerk.

How to Enter an Absence

• Log in to ParentVUE

• Click on “Report Absences” (listed on the left side panel)

• Mark either ‘E for Excused’ or ‘EI for Excused Illness’. You can submit the attendance for a single date or a range of dates by clicking on each day. (Future absences are not visible in PVUE until the date of the absence.)

• Please leave comment in the note section, explaining the absence.

• Click Save

Please let the Attendance Office know about ALL absences even if you have alerted the Classroom Teacher.

Volunteering at Riffenburgh

If you plan on Volunteering at Riffenburgh, you must register or check that your status is current with Poudre School District (PSD) thru the following portal (renewals are every 3 years) before you come to school.

** Please remember to bring a Government Issued Identification (Driver’s License) (DIGITAL IDs are not accepted) to school when you check in in as a Visitor or Volunteer. This is a requirement for the Check In process. **

Classroom Treats

If it is necessary to have food in classrooms during school hours (i.e. birthday snack, holidays, special occasions, school events, etc.),

  • only commercially prepared and packaged, INDIVIDUAL items (NO CAKES or HUGE COOKIES ) with ATTACHED ingredient labels from retail stores can be served
  • contact your child's teacher prior to sending food or treats in
  • do not send in Balloons or Gifts for the Birthday Child
  • all treats should come to the Main Office

News from the Health Office

Vaccine Clinic at Lincoln Middle School

The School Based Health Center at Lincoln will be hosting a vaccine clinic on Wednesday, October 18th from 11:30am-4:30pm. They are offering all school required vaccines, HPV, meningococcal, Hep A, and FLU vaccines as well. Families will need to call 970-488-4900 to schedule an appointment. There is no cost for the vaccines.

Families do not have to fill out the entire enrollment packet for the vaccines. It will simply require a consent form to be signed.

**No Cough Drops in School**

Students are not to carry cough drops in their back packs for use during the school day. If cough drops are required, there is a Medication Authorization form from the Health Room that must be completed for any medication to be given at school (prescription or over the counter). This form needs to be filled out and signed by the Health Care Provider and then signed by the Parent and returned to the health room with the cough drops in their original package. Once this process is complete, the student can come to the Health Room and the Health Room Tech will give them a cough drop. Mints/candies are an alternative for dry throats that can be carried by the student so they can use as they need. If you are sending in mints/candies PLEASE advise your student's Teacher!

"How Sick is Too Sick” Guidelines

If your student is experiencing fever, diarrhea, and/or vomiting they must be 24-hours symptom free without medication from their last episode to return to school. If symptoms are explained by a specific illness please see criteria for exclusion from school in the CDPHE Infectious Disease Guidelines in Childcare and School Settings.

If you have any questions regarding when your student can return to school, please contact your school’s health office. For more information on Poudre School District Illness Guidelines click on the button below:
