BADMINTON

4th Place in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place Sectional

The LT badminton team had another successful season. They competed in the West Suburban Conference against four other teams who sent representatives to the IHSA state meet.

The Lions played in some of the best tournaments in the state including the Hersey Invite, the New Trier Tournament and the Stevenson Invitational. The difficult competition prepared them ready for their postseason run.

In the IHSA Sectional Tournament, LT took second place as a team. Simone Brown and Mia Graziano took fourth place as a doubles team to advance to the state meet where they won their first match 21-14, 21-11 over a Thornton Fractional South team.

BASEBALL

21-12 Overall Record - 12-6 in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place Western Suburban Conference

LT Baseball had another great season. They finished the season with a 12-6 record in the West Suburban Conference which earned them second place in the very difficult WSC Silver Division.

The Lions competed well in the prestigious Do It Stevie's Way Tournament. In the Stevie's Way Tournament they advanced to the title game by beating the eventual state champion Providence Catholic team 4-2. They finished the tournament in 2nd place eventually losing in the title game to Lockport.

The Lions won their opening IHSA playoff game before falling in their IHSA Regional Championship matchup.

BOYS GYMNASTICS

4-0 Overall Dual Meet Record - 4-0 in the West Suburban Conference - 1st Place Western Suburban Conference - Sectional Champions - 4th Place Finish in State

The LT Lions Boys Gymnastics Team continued their dominance in their 2024 season. They went undefeated in their dual meets and won the West Suburban Conference again this year.

The Lions went on to win the Sectional Meet to advance to the State Competition.

LT finished in 4th place as a team in the state championship meet. Will Taylor Finished with All-State Finishes in Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, High Bar and Parallel Bars. TJ Carr earned All-State honors on the Rings. Will Taylor was also named Senior Gymnast of the Year for the state of Illinois. Head Coach Sam Zeman was also inducted into the Illinois Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

BOYS LACROSSE

10-8 Overall Record - 1-4 in the West Suburban Conference - 4th Place in the West Suburban Conference

The LT boys lacrosse team played a very difficult regular season facing many teams that finished the season in the top 10 in the state. They beat a quality Wheaton-Warrenville team in overtime for one of their signature wins.

The Lions won their first round playoff game by shutting out St. Lawrence High school to advance to the Sectional Quarterfinal.

The Lions' season came to an end in the IHSA Sectional Quarterfinal game against Hinsdale Central. Despite falling to a 7-0 deficit in the game, the Lions fought back to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they were not able to complete the major comeback despite a tremendous effort to close out the game.

GIRLS LACROSSE

12-9 Overall Record - 2-4 in the West Suburban Conference - 5th Place Western Suburban Conference - Finished the year ranked in 22nd place in the state

The girls lacrosse team also played a very competitive schedule. Of their 9 losses, 6 of them came to teams that finished in the top 12 of the state.

Despite the difficult schedule, LT was able to defeat multiple top 25 teams in the state. They knocked off Barringtong (24th), Prospect (20th) and Lockport (12th) in addition to traditional power programs Mother McAuley and Montini.

The Lions season ended in the IHSA Sectional Quarterfinals to fourth seeded St. Ignatius. The LT girls lacrosse program also raised money in their annual pink out game to support Lurie's Children's Hospital and the Veronica Bernard Foundation.

GIRLS SOCCER

19-4-2 Overall Record - 5-1 in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place Western Suburban Conference - Regional Champions - Sectional Champions - Finished the year ranked in 8th place in the state

The Lions finished with an amazing 19-4-2 record this past season. They competed at the highest levels and continued to excel as one of the best teams in the state.

After finishing second in a very competitive conference battle, they set their focus on their postseason run. The Lions started the playoffs with two victories to win the IHSA Regional Championship.

In the IHSA Sectional, the Lions beat rival Hinsdale Central and Conference foe York to capture the Sectional Title. They lost in the Super-Sectional against the eventual state champion New Trier team in a hard fought 1-0 game. Caroline Mortonson was selected as an All-State athlete for her play in the 2024 season.

SOFTBALL

14-17 Overall Record - 5-7 in the West Suburban Conference - 5th Place Western Suburban Conference

LT Softball continued to improve this past season. They won five games in the West Suburban Conference to finish in fifth place.

LT continued to compete against top teams in the state before heading to the IHSA playoffs. They also raised money for cancer research playing in their program wide Pink Out Games.

In the IHSA playoffs, LT won the Regional Semi-Final against a higher seeded York team. They won 6-5 to advance to the Regional Final for the second straight year. In the Regional Final they lost to a Marist team that took 2nd place in state.

BOYS TENNIS

7-1 Overall Record - 5-1 in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place Western Suburban Conference - 2nd Place finish in the Sectional - Placed 5th place in the IHSA State Tournament

The Lions tennis program started the season strong and kept their momentum all the way to the state tournament. They won the Libertyville Tournament to start their season and continued to finish in the top of the Naperville North and Hinsdale Central Tournaments.

In the IHSA Sectional Meet, the Lions took second place to the eventual state champion Hinsdale Central Team. In the Sectional Meet, LT doubles teams of Jack McLane and Mason Mazzone and Luke Howell and Shay Sweigard took first and second place respectively to medal in the Sectional Meet.

At the IHSA State Meet, Luke and Shay won three matches to make it to the quarterfinals before losing their first match of the tournament. Jack and Mason won five straight matches to play in the finals and for the state title in the doubles tournament before falling to New Trier. The boys earned a fifth place finish as a team. Luke, Shay, Mason and Jack all earned All-State honors.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

7th Place Finish in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place in the IHSA Sectional

The LT boys track team had many highlights during the season. They had some great performances from both individuals and from the relay teams. They finished their season hosting the IHSA Sectional Track Meet.

In the IHSA Sectional Meet, LT finished in second place. Multiple athletes won medals to contribute to the second place finish for the team. Two individuals and two relays qualified for the state meet.

At the state meet, Nicolas Strayer took 9th place in the 1600 Meter Race with a time of 4:16.84 to earn All-State Status.

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

7th Place Finish in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place in the IHSA Sectional

The LT Girls Track and Field were led by a strong group of student-athletes and they saw many successes during the course of their season.

The Lions hosted the IHSA Sectional Meet and finished in second place after a strong showing from many top finishers. LT qualified three relays and three individuals to the IHSA State Meet.

At the IHSA State Meet, the 4 x 800 meter relay team had the best finish for LT. They finished in 14th place in the state with a time of 9:27.45.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS TRACK AND FIELD

The Special Olympics Track and Field Teams had great seasons this spring. They worked hard to improve on their skills in preparation for the District Qualifying Meet.

At the District Meet, LT had many individuals who achieved their personal best for the season. Six athletes qualified for the state meet in June.

At the state meet, LT had multiple top ten finishers. Stanley Hides finished in seventh place in the 100 Meter Dash. Liz Schmidt took seventh place in the Shot Put. Ally McKirchy finished with a fourth place finish in the 100 Meter Run. Nathaniel Schaefer took home a third place finish in the 200 Meter Run. Brandon Villanueva took third place in the 1500 Meter Run and a gold medal first place in the Shot Put.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

34-6 Overall Record - 4-2 in the West Suburban Conference - 2nd Place Western Suburban Conference - Regional Champions - Sectional Champions - Elite Eight Finish - Finished the year ranked in 5th place in the state

The boys volleyball team had another fantastic season. The Lions competed with the best teams in the state during the regular season and finished in 2nd place in the WSC. They also took first place in the twelve team Richards Invitational.

The Lions started their post season run by taking home the Regional Championship by beating Nazareth Academy and Oak Lawn High School. They then went on to beat Brother Rice and Oak Park/River Forest to take home the IHSA Sectional Title.

The Lions played well against the returning state champion Glenbard West team, but fell short in the State Quarterfinals. They finished the season ranked in 5th place in the state. The Lions had three All-State players this season. They are 1st Team Luka Kostic, 2nd Team Tommy Culver and 3rd Team Zaccary Ruiz.

BOYS WATER POLO

30-3 Overall Record - 1st Place Western Suburban Conference - Sectional Champions - IHSA STATE CHAMPIONS

The boys water polo team had a historic season. They finished up the season with a 30-3 record while playing against the best teams in the state of Illinois and across the country.

They won their own IHSA Sectional by beating Brother Ricer 16-5 to take home the Sectional Plaque. This put them in position to take on the fourth ranked New Trier Team in the State Quarterfinals.

The Lions beat New Trier 10-9 in overtime to advance to the State Semifinals. In the Semifinals, LT beat Whitney Young 12-7 to head back to the state final game. In the Championship Game, LT outlasted the host and second ranked Stevenson High School 10-7 to win their third state title. LT had four All-State award winners for the 2024 season. They were Charlie Vlk and Luke Jackson who were 1st team All-State. Brendan Whelton was selected on the 2nd team All-State team and Sami Rabah was awarded 4th team All-State. Head Coach Doug Eichstaedt was inducted into the Illinois Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

GIRLS WATER POLO

27-6 Overall Record - Sectional Champions - IHSA 3rd Place Trophy in State

The girls water polo team had a great season with many highlights. They had a great season and competed against top notch competition all season long.

They continued to get better all year long and their steady improvement showed as they cruised to an IHSA Sectional Championship. They beat traditional powerhouse Mother McAuley 13-9 to win the Sectional Trophy and advance to state.

In the state Quarterfinal matchup, the Lions met their West Suburban Conference rival, the York Dukes. LT was able to beat the 5th ranked Dukes 10-6 to advance to the Semifinal game. After falling to the eventual state champions, LT rebounded and beat Naperville North 12-7 to take home a 3rd place state trophy. The girls water polo team had three All-State Athletes this spring. They were led by Maya Mladjan who earned 1st team All-State. Isabella Recker and Delaney Judkins were both named 2nd team All-State.

The LT Spring Season was incredibly successful. There were 6 teams who finished their season in the top 10 in the state (Boys Water Polo (1st), Girls Water Polo (3rd), Boys Gymnastics (4th), Boys Tennis (5th), Boys Volleyball (5th) and Girls Soccer (8th)). One other team finished with a top 25 finish in the state (Girls Lacrosse (22nd)). Two teams won Regional Championships (Boys Volleyball, and Girls Soccer). Five teams won Sectional Plaques (Boys Gymnastics, Boys Water Polo, Girls Water Polo, Boys Volleyball and Girls Soccer). 2 teams won State Trophies. Girls Water Polo took home a 3rd place state finish and Boys Water Polo won their 3rd State Championship as a program.

There were 9 student athletes who attended the National Letter of Intent signing day on April 17 (Tyler Balon, Sean Cherry, Tommy Culver, Kristina Findley, Madison Findley, Gunnar Garelli, Zaccary Ruiz, Liam Taylor and Izzi Wirtz).

18 student-athletes earned all-state honors in seven different sports:

Boys Water Polo 4 (Charlie Vlk (1st Team), Luke Jackson (1st Team), Brendan Whelton (2nd Team) and Sami Rabah (4th Team))

Girls Water Polo 3 (Maya Mladjan (1st Team), Isabella Recker (2nd Team) and Delaney Judkins (2nd Team))

There were also 139 seniors who earned West Suburban Conference All-Academic status this spring.
