This week's Missouri Valley Conference golfers of the week are Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti and Southern Illinois' Secilia Ho.
Valparaiso's Anthony Delisanti (Jr., Sanborn, N.Y.) finished tied for third in a competitive 62-player field at the Monterrey Collegiate Classic, posting a 54-hole score of 203 (-13) with a round-by-round line of 69-68-66. The tournament, which was hosted by George Washington at the par-72, 7141-yard Club Campestre Monterrey, was the first event in program history held outside of the U.S. Delisanti tied for second in program history in 54-hole tournament score in relation to par. He helped Valpo compile a 54-hole team score of 843 (-22) that was one stroke away from the program's 54-hole record and represented the team's best 54-hole tournament since 2014. Delisanti eagled the par-5 fifth hole in Round 3.
Southern Illinois wrapped up its fall schedule at the French Broad Collegiate Invitational in Asheville, N.C. Lipscomb won the 10-team tournament with a three-round 904. Southern Illinois tied for seventh place (314-303-317-934). Secilia Ho fired a three-round 80-71-73-224 to tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard. Her 71 in Round 2 was low for the round. The individual medalist was Mary Kate Smith of Lipscomb at 219.
The Belmont women's golf team finished in sixth place at The Judson held this week at Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Bruins posted a final round 304 on Tuesday to finish in sixth place with a three-round score of 903. Central Arkansas edged host Southern Miss for the team title by five strokes (875 to 880). Cincinnati placed third at 885. Three Belmont golfers finished among the top-25 at this week's event. For the third time this fall, senior Delia Gibbs led BU as she finished in 18th place at 223. She shot a one-over par 73 in the final round. It was her fifth top-20 finish of the fall season. The Kentucky native was 10 shots back of the individual medalist, Lou Deltombe of Tarleton State. Drake (301-295-205--901) had its second-straight fifth-place finish of the fall season. Amber Henson (74-75-76--225) was Drake's top finisher, landing in a tie for 20th overall.
