12 days of friendship, solidarity and learning.
Hike to mountain villages to see sustainable farming and water conservation projects. Glide through mangrove forests by boat and participate in sea turtle conservation. Visit an organic coffee coop nestled between volcanoes and education projects in Managua's bustling marketplace.
Most importantly, on a PeaceWorks delegation to Nicaragua you'll see first hand how our partners are working to overcome extreme poverty, environmental degradation and economic exploitation – everyday Nicaraguans working to build peace.

THE PEACEWORKS APPROACH: PEOPLE TO PEOPLE, PUEBLO A PUEBLO
While enjoying simple, but pleasant accommodations & good food, you'll be part of a small team, meeting with our project partners -- experts in rural development, support for women, children and families, nature and wildlife conservation, and human rights. In translated conversations you'll speak to Nicaraguan families and project beneficiaries who'll invite you into their homes and places of work. You'll ask questions, observe, and learn while helping PeaceWorks prioritize future work. Our delegation is the foundation of our solidarity building work, year after year for the past 30 years.

Where will you go? What will you see? Who will you meet?
The team at Inhijambia will show us the realities of children living and working on the streets of Nicaragua's capital city, Managua. They'll take us to the massive Eastern Market where kids as young as five or six work to support their families. Inhijambia offers these children hope through education, health, nutrition, cultural and job skills programs. Established 20 years ago, you can now meet young people from Inhijambia attending university on PeaceWork-funded scholarhips.
Our delegation will also visit Inhijambia's farm where they grow food to supplement their nutrition program. And we'll visit newly constructed homes that were built for formerly working street kids.

We'll travel to Masaya to meet with the women leaders of the Axyacatl Women’s Collective. At their office and in the field, they'll show us how they empower local women through counseling and self-support groups, legal assistance, community advocacy, employment support, rural development and farming projects.
